    Abstract: The present invention relates to an alternating current electrical motor having a first element with magnets of alternating polarities, and a second element with electrical conductor coils, the first and the second elements being mounted for relative motion to one another. A controller for the electrical motor comprising: a current source for energizing the coils with an alternating current to produce a movement of the first and the second elements relative to one another; a sensor for sensing a phase shift between the magnets and the current in the coils; and a current source controller for varying an amplitude of the current to substantially regulate the phase shift to an optimum phase shift value, thereby providing a minimum power consumption for proper operation of the electrical motor.
