Patent number: 12639131Abstract: Techniques for monitoring virtual machine host system health with untrusted sources are described. An agent receives a request to terminate a first virtual machine, the request including an untrusted status indicator originating from an environment executing untrusted software. The agent sends first termination event data to a differential health service of the provider network, the first termination event data including an indication of a host computer system and the untrusted status indicator. The differential health service determines that a first metric associated with the first host computer system differs from a second metric associated with a pool of host computer systems by at least a first amount and based at least in part on the untrusted status indicator, wherein the pool of host computer systems includes the first host computer system. The differential health service sends a second request to cause a corrective action to be taken.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2021Date of Patent: May 26, 2026Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Anthony A. Publication number: 20170059285Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide an electronic target system and a hit detection method. In certain embodiments, the electronic target system includes a target having a plurality of distinct sectors, each having a measurable capacitance, and a controller configured to determine the capacitance and the change in capacitance of each sector. The controller generally monitors the capacitance and the change in capacitance of each sector. When a sector's capacitance changes at least a designated amount—such as when a projectile pierces the sector and reduces the sector's area—the controller determines that the sector has been hit. In other embodiments, the electronic target system includes a target including one or more vibration sensors configured to detect vibrations in the target. Upon detecting these vibrations, the vibration sensors send responsive signals to a controller. The controller analyzes these signals to determine whether a sector has been hit.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Inventors: Anthony Crivolio, Eric Mills
