  • Patent number: 8656019
Abstract: Data processing workload administration in a cloud computing environment including distributing data processing jobs among a plurality of clouds, each cloud comprising a network-based, distributed data processing system that provides one or more cloud computing services; deploying, by a job placement engine in each cloud according to the workload execution policy onto servers in each cloud, the data processing jobs distributed to each cloud; determining, by each job placement engine during execution of each data processing job, whether workload execution policy for each deployed job continues to be met by computing resources within the cloud where each job is deployed; and advising, by each job placement engine, the workload policy manager when workload execution policy for a particular job cannot continue to be met by computing resources within the cloud where the particular job is deployed.

  • Patent number: 8576022
Abstract: Tuning a programmable power line filter, the power line filter including a live line, a neutral line, and a ground line connected to input terminals of the filter on an input side of the filter, the live line and the neutral line connected through inductors in the filter to output terminals on an output side of the filter, X-capacitors selectably connected through tuning switches between the live line and the neutral line, Y-capacitors selectably connected through tuning switches between the live line and ground and/or between the neutral line and ground, and a tuning control circuit connected to the tuning switches and selectably connected through one or more programming switches to the load, including measuring by the tuning control circuit the input impedance of the load and programming by the tuning control circuit the tuning switches in dependence upon the input impedance of the load.

  • Patent number: 7848108
Abstract: A heatsink including an electromagnetic bandgap structure reduces electromagnetic interference caused by an integrated circuit in an electronic device. One embodiment provides a heatsink having a base with an array of electrically-conductive, thermally-conductive patches spaced apart in two dimensions of a reference plane and having a thickness perpendicular to the reference plane. The patches are interconnected by a plurality of branches. Each branch connects adjacent patches and has a width in the reference plane of less than a width of each adjacent patch. A plurality of thermally conductive cooling fins coupled to a surface of the base and extend normal to the reference plane. The cooling fins may be formed of a thermally-conductive, electrically non-conductive material or may be coupled to the base by a thermally-conductive, electrically non-conductive material.
