Abstract: In an embodiment, the disclosed technologies implement scaling operations for clusters of server nodes hosting stateful services. An embodiment includes a cluster manager computer calling a first instance of scaling status functions for a first stateful service and a second instance of scaling status functions for a second stateful service, the first stateful service being programmed to implement a different service than the second stateful service. The cluster manager computer is programmed to implement different scaling operations for the first stateful service and the second stateful service, each set of the scaling operations being optimized for respective services.

Abstract: A technique for generating water vapor involves providing oxygen and hydrogen to a heated reaction chamber that includes a porous reaction structure enclosed within an encapsulation structure. The porous reaction structure, which may include an open-celled ceramic structure, provides sufficient heat exchange and mixing to cause the oxygen and hydrogen to combine to form water vapor. The reaction chamber can be easily and safely heated using resistance, infrared lamp, radio frequency or other heating sources to a temperature above the reaction temperature required to ensure the reaction and conversion of oxygen and hydrogen to water vapor.

Abstract: The apparatus comprises an air delivery chamber and an air extraction chamber which together define a cooling zone, said delivery chamber and said extraction chamber each having a fan and said air delivery chamber having a perforated face plate through which air is delivered into said cooling zone, said delivery chamber and said extraction chamber being connected together by ducting, and a plurality of mutually co-operable dampers in said ducting for selectively controlling the amount of humidified air passing from said extraction chamber to said delivery chamber and exhaust and for selectively controlling the amount of air from atmosphere being delivered to said delivery chamber.
