Abstract: A multi-mode thermostat includes, a sensor of ambient temperature and control circuits coupled to the sensor, wherein the control circuits are responsive to signals from the sensor to maintain a predetermined regional temperature. First electrically actuated backup circuits, responsive to a sensed operational power level, to alter a status signal transmission rate by the control circuits. Second electrically actuated backup circuits, responsive to a lower sensed operational power level to provide a backup, lower regional temperature electromechanically.

Abstract: A regional monitoring system includes speech recognition circuitry having smart filtering capability to interpret speech input from a user to provide interactions between the user and the system. Received voice commands can be filtered using key words to interpret security commands which can then be executed. The system can provide audible feedback using one or more of prerecorded voice data files or synthesized speech.

Abstract: A regional monitoring system can include a plurality of voice sensing units each of which incorporates speech recognition circuitry. In response to recognizing a verbal command at a unit, a coded representation, or token, along with location information, can be transmitted to a system control apparatus. A user interface is mountable to a wall in the home and is operatively connected to the control apparatus. A control apparatus and the user interface selectively display the image of the wall on the display screen to camouflage the user interface.

Abstract: A multi-stage verification system including a first and second identification device to verify the identity of the user and to determine if the user is under duress. When a user approaches an entrance to a building, a first identifier is detected by the first identification device, the identifier is compared to a pre-stored identifier. If there is a match, the user inputs at least one biometric input into the second identification device. The biometric input is compares with pre-stored information in two different databases, a biometric template database and a duress indicator database. If there is a match with the duress indicator database, a silent alarm signal is transmitted to a central monitoring station and the security system is disarmed. If there is a match with the biometric template database, the security system is controlled in the intended manner.

Abstract: A multi-stage verification system including a first and second identification device to verify the identity of the user and to determine if the user is under duress. When a user approaches an entrance to a building, a first identifier is detected by the first identification device, the identifier is compared to a pre-stored identifier. The biometric input is compares with pre-stored information in two different databases, a biometric template database and a duress indicator database. Abstract: A security system includes biometric authentication such as voice authentication with wireless tag detection to identify both the user and a wireless tag carried by the user. When the user approaches the entrance to a building that is secured by the security system, a tag detector of a user interface receives an identifier from the tag. The user interface transmits the tag identifier to a base station for comparison to pre-stored tag identifiers in a database. If there is a match, the user is prompted to provide a biometric input, such as by speaking a pre-arranged phrase. The biometric input is compared with templates stored in the database to determine if there is a match. If there is a match, the security system is disarmed. The template can be selected based on the tag identifier to improve processing speed.

Abstract: The present invention includes pluralities of memory card slots incorporated therein for connecting various types of memory card and reading the information therein. At least one transmission interface port is used to connect the means that provides the function to store and provide the digital image. A power source is used to provide the power and a signal process controller is used to process the input image. A display is used to display the image and a display module is coupled to the signal process controller to send the signal processed by the signal process controller to the display.
