  • Publication number: 20220297354
Abstract: A system is provided that includes an adjustable surface that can be quickly adjusted through use of a plurality of actuators. The surface can be used as a dynamic decoration or a haptic visualization tool for the blind. The system uses special couplings between the actuators and the adjustable surface that allow the actuators to control the shape of the surface, while still allowing the surface to be deformed by outside pressure without forcing or damaging the actuators. These couplings formed by a selection of springs, flexures, cables, and ball joints allow the surface to be quickly adjusted to a new shape. The adjustable surface can be used to shape plastic, metal, or glass sheets or as composite layup forms. A frame of the system engages actuators in a way that allows the actuators to move in axial directions of the actuators and adjust the shape of the surface.

  • Patent number: 10352941
Abstract: Methods of covalently attaching heparin to a membrane comprising plasma treating the membrane to produce an amino-functionalized membrane; and reacting the amino-functionalized membrane with heparin under conditions in which heparin becomes covalently attached to the amino-functionalized membrane, wherein said heparin is indirectly attached via a spacer to said amino-functionalized membrane and/or said heparin is attached from a single site in said heparin to a single site on said amino-functionalized membrane or to said spacer. Also disclosed are analyte sensors.

  • Patent number: 10198420
Abstract: A spreadsheet storytelling engine is provided. The spreadsheet storytelling engine may run in the context of a spreadsheet application on any device, service, or general endpoint capable of running the spreadsheet application. The spreadsheet storytelling engine allows for the authoring and telling of a story. The story is a collection of operations that guide the consumer through a spreadsheet. The story allows the spreadsheet to be used to convey visualizations, data, calculations, or other objects in a spreadsheet in a way that may be simple, pleasant to look at, and/or visually engaging to help a consumer understand the information and internalize it in a way that is actionable without requiring the real time availability of the spreadsheet author. The spreadsheet storytelling engine is useful for purposes including, but not limited to, making presentations, creating tutorials, validating data, explaining how a model works, and generating interactive business intelligence dashboards.

  • Publication number: 20050050470
Abstract: An interactive tooltip provides access to help information and enhanced editing capabilities. The interactive tooltip is especially useful for a user editing a function within a spreadsheet formula. The present invention integrates HTML-like interactivity with a conventional tooltip to provide a new interface for working with the associated data. The interactivity of the tooltip provides additional levels of help or documentation when requested and provides additional editing navigation functionality within the associated data. The present invention provides a tooltip in close proximity to the associated data, while the associated data is being edited. In the case of a spreadsheet, a tooltip will be provided when the user begins editing a function within a spreadsheet cell.

  • Patent number: 5958174
Abstract: A card package assembly and method of manufacture thereof allow simple and inexpensive production of desirable products, particularly useful for telephone debit cards. A web of card stock is imaged on both first and second faces with indicia (preferably variable and non-variable), and the faces are spot coated with plastic at spaced locations equal to the length of card package ultimately separated from the web. A card is formed from or out of each of the spot coated plastic locations, by die cutting, or with lines of weakness such as perforations. The form is narrower at the card, and adhesive patterns outside the card portions hold other panels of the package together once folded over to sandwich the card between other panels. The cards may be produced from a web one package wide, or from a web two or even more packages wide. A bang tail is preferably provided connected to the card, and of the same width, with a perforation separating the bang tail from the card and coupon indicia imaged on the bang tail.
