  • Patent number: 5941041
Abstract: A play structure building panel comprising of integrally connected spaced-apart curved parallel inner and outer panel walls joined by two side edges and end two end edges. One of the side edges and at one of the end edges have an integral connection means extending therefrom to mate with complementary connection receiving means on an identical panel. Accordingly, one of the side edges and one of the end edges of the panel also have the complementary connections means to receive the connection means extending from another identical panel. Therefore, any number of the panels may be connected to other identical panels along any of the side or end edges.

  • Patent number: 5326328
Abstract: A plastic building element is described which permits a variety of play structures to be assembled. The main building element is a dish-shaped molded plastic part, having a bottom, integral lower side walls projecting generally upwardly from the outer periphery of the bottom to define a lower portion of one nominal diameter, integral generally horizontal portions projecting outwardly from the top of the lower side walls, and integral upper side walls projecting generally upwardly from the outer periphery of the horizontal portion to define an upper portion having a substantially larger nominal diameter. Preferably, the side walls are defined by a number of generally rectangular panels defining a polygonal shape for the building element as viewed in horizontal section. In the preferred embodiment, the structure is hexagonal.

  • Patent number: 5258038
Abstract: A prosthetic foot includes an ankle member, a heel member and a toe member coupled to each other for relative pivotable movement with the pivotable movement resisted by elastomeric pads. The heel and ankle member are connected through a joint allowing for translational and pivotable torsional motion of the ankle with respect to the heel and provided with limit stops in the axle and the side walls of the heel member to limit the torsional and translation motion of the ankle joint. The toe member is formed symmetrically to be used for left and right feet with symmetrically positioned and mirror imaged fore sections.

  • Patent number: 4953507
Abstract: A livestock watering device is disclosed, including an insulated tank, at least one opening through the top for an animal to gain access, and at each opening, at least one horizontally arranged buoyant door pivotally connected at one side thereof on the underside of the top adjacent to the opening, by flexible rubber straps. The upper surface of each door has a flat periphery on the hinged and adjacent sides for engaging the underside of the top of the tank adjacent the opening, and a scooped central portion falling away from the flat periphery so as to drain away from the periphery. Preferably, the flat periphery of each door lies entirely radially outwardly of the walls of the opening. A resilient seal may be added to provide a double seal. In an alternative embodiment, there are two doors per opening, the doors being pivotally connected at opposite sides of each opening and arranged to swing towards and away from each other.

  • Patent number: 4752458
Abstract: A method of preparing spherical microparticles of silica comprising adding an acid solution to a silicate solution before or after addition of an alkali metal alginate, ammonium alginate, starch, gelatin, pectin or mixtures thereof. The microparticles can be used to prepare macroporous materials having a controlled pore structure.

  • Patent number: 4522543
Abstract: Apparatus for use in feeding physically incapacited persons comprising a spoon supported for orbital and rectilinear movement in a predetermined path, one or more receptacles, and kinematics selectively operable to move a selected receptacle into the path of movement of the spoon and for effecting orbital and rectilinear movement of the spoon from an at-rest position above the receptacle into the receptacle to pick up a quantity of food therefrom, remove it from the receptacle to a position to be received by the person and then return it to its at-rest position in readiness for a repeat cycle of operation.

  • Patent number: 4321240
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for treating a pollutant-containing gaseous effluent of the kind in which the pollutant is susceptible to catalytic oxidation to render it inoffensive, characterized by the steps of passing a major fraction of the effluent through material which will adsorb substantially all of the pollutant therein, while utilizing the remainder of the effluent to transfer, for catalytic oxidation in a catalytic reactor at an elevated temperature, pollutant which has already adsorbed on such material from said major fraction, and to promote the circulation of gases through the catalytic reaction zone, and repeatedly and appropriately changing the role of material from an adsorbing role to a catalytic oxidation role and back again. The process may involve two beds of material which are used alternately as adsorbing beds, the other bed meanwhile being stripped of adsorbed pollutant for catalysis.
