  • Publication number: 20110308904
Abstract: A brake pad actuating device comprising: a piston including: a first pocket; an opposing second pocket; and an internal wall located in the piston separating the first pocket and the second pocket, wherein the volume of the first pocket to the volume of the second pocket form a ratio of less than about 20:1; and wherein the piston is adapted to be used as a brake piston.

  • Publication number: 20060260881
Abstract: A brake pad with an integral wear indicator feature comprises a brake support plate, an underlayment on a surface of the brake support plate, and at least one friction material layer on the underlayment, the underlayment including an effective amount of metallic particles that have a cross sectional area of at least 0.05 mm2, and a length greater than 0.10 mm. The underlayment produce a loudness of at least 70 dB and a frequency as measured six feet from the underlayment of at least 1.5 kHz when the underlayment contacts a braking surface of a brake assembly, thus providing a distinctive warning to a driver that brake service is required.

  • Publication number: 20060027426
Abstract: A brake system includes a caliper and a brake element. The brake system further includes an adhesive that adheres the brake element to the caliper. The adhesive stops adhering the brake element to the caliper after the adhesive heats to an elevated temperature. The adhesive retains the brake element in the caliper during shipping and component handling but stops adhering the brake element after a first service use of the vehicle.
