  • Patent number: 9726393
Abstract: A system includes a heat exchanger; a variable actuator in operative communication with the heat exchanger and configured to vary a flow of a first fluid through the heat exchanger in a continuous manner; a discrete actuator in communication with the heat exchanger and configured to vary a flow of a second fluid through the heat exchanger at one of at least two discrete rates; and a controller in communication with the variable actuator and the discrete actuator, wherein the controller is configured to adjust the position of the variable actuator within a range dependent upon a current position of the discrete actuator.

  • Publication number: 20150167994
Abstract: A heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a plurality of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units servicing a plurality of zones of a building. A plurality of controllers is connected to the plurality of HVAC units, each controller servicing one or more zones of the plurality of zones. The plurality of controllers include at least one first controller servicing at least one first zone that is powered off when the HVAC system is in a first operating mode and a second controller servicing a second zone of the plurality of zones that remains powered on when the HVAC system is in the first operating mode. The at least one second controller is operably connected to the at least one first controller to enable powering on of the first controller when an environmental condition in the second zone falls outside of a selected range.

  • Publication number: 20140144159
Abstract: A method of operating a climatic beam air conditioning system includes operably connecting one or more controllers to two or more climatic beams in two or more locations. Inputs are communicated from the two or more locations to the one or more controllers. Each controller of the one or more controllers is operably connected to two or more climatic beams. Independent commands are communicated to each climatic beam of the two or more climatic beams from the one or more controllers to control operation of the two or more climatic beams based on the inputs communicated from the two or more locations.

  • Publication number: 20090126382
Abstract: An air conditioning system to improve indoor air quality (“IAQ”) comprises an air conditioner to receive indoor air from an indoor space and to heat or cool the air, the air conditioner to then return conditioned air to the indoor space. An IAQ option board (“IOB”), electrically coupled to the air conditioner control board, is configured to accept electrical inputs from at least one IAQ sensor. A fresh air damper is electrically connected to the IOB, the IOB controlling the position of the fresh air damper valve. An air purifier is situated such that air from the indoor space passes through the purifier. The operation of state of operation of the purifier is based at least in part on the input from at least one IAQ sensor to improve the IAQ of the indoor space.
