  • Publication number: 20260048203
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, a carrier, a medicament container, and a flexible member. The housing defines an opening placing a gas chamber of the housing in fluid communication with an exterior volume. The carrier has a proximal surface that defines a portion of the gas chamber. The medicament container is coupled to the carrier and has a distal end portion coupled to a delivery member. The medicament container containing a medicament and includes an elastomeric member that seals the medicament therein. The flexible member has a distal end portion coupled to the elastomeric member and a proximal end portion coupled to a valve member. The flexible member transitions from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration when the elastomeric member moves within the medicament container. The flexible member moves the valve member relative to the opening when the flexible member transitions from the collapsed configuration to the expanded configuration.

  • Publication number: 20260021248
Abstract: An automated medication administration system that is employed with an integrated cartridge assembly in response to the acute medical condition. The pump assembly is configured to engage the cartridge assembly having at least a first container containing saline and a second container containing a medicament. The engagement of the cartridge assembly transitions a gate member of the cartridge assembly from a locked position to an unlocked position. The pump includes a drive assembly that is configured to convey repeated doses of the medicament in accordance with a treatment protocol when the gate member is in the unlocked position. Each dose of the medicament is followed by a dose of the saline.

  • Patent number: 12420016
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, a medicament container and a movable member. The medicament container is movable within the housing between a first position and a second position in response to a force produced by an energy storage member. A proximal end portion of the medicament container includes a flange and has a plunger disposed therein. A first shoulder of the movable member exerts the force on the flange to move the medicament container from the first position to the second position. A portion of the first shoulder deforms when the medicament container is in the second position such that at least a portion of the force is exerted upon the plunger. A second shoulder of the movable member exerts a retraction force on the flange to move the medicament container from the second position towards the first position.

  • Publication number: 20240399063
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, an actuator, a lock mechanism, and a medicament container. The lock mechanism selectively engages a portion of the housing such that (1) the lock mechanism is maintained in a substantially fixed position when the housing is in a first orientation and (2) the lock mechanism is removable from the housing when the housing is in a second orientation. The medicament container is moved in a proximal direction when the lock mechanism is removed from the housing to mix a first medicament portion contained within the medicament container with a second medicament portion contained within the medicament container. The actuator can be moved from a first position to a second position when the lock mechanism is removed from the housing to release energy stored within an energy storage member such that the medicament container is moved in a distal direction.

  • Patent number: 11929160
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes receiving a signal associated with a characteristic of an actuation event of a medicament delivery device. The method includes establishing a communications link (e.g., via a short-range wireless protocol), between a mobile computing device and a medicament delivery device. A wireless first signal associated with a first motion profile of the medicament delivery device is then received from the medicament delivery device. A second signal associated with a second motion profile of the mobile computing device is generated. The method then includes producing a notification via the mobile computing device when A) a magnitude of the first motion profile is outside of a first threshold and B) a magnitude of the second motion profile is outside of a second threshold.

  • Patent number: 11771830
Abstract: A method of delivering epinephrine includes placing a distal end surface of a medical injector into contact with a target location of a patient. The medical injector includes a housing, an energy storage member, and a medicament container containing a dose of epinephrine effective for administration to the patient experiencing anaphylaxis and having a weight of less than 15 kg. The medicament container is coupled to a needle. The medical injector is actuated such that the energy storage member produces a force to move the needle from a first needle position to a second needle position. A distal tip of the needle extends from the distal end surface by a distance of between 7 millimeters and 8 millimeters when the needle is in the second needle position. A portion of the force is exerted to expel the dose of epinephrine when the needle is in the second position.

  • Publication number: 20230076855
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing, a carrier, and an expandable assembly. The housing defines an opening configured to selectively place a gas chamber of the housing in fluid communication with an exterior volume. The carrier is movably disposed within the housing and is coupled to a medicament container. A proximal surface of the carrier defines a portion of a boundary of the gas chamber. The expandable assembly has a first member and a second member. The first member is coupled to an elastomeric member disposed within the medicament container, and the second member includes a valve portion. The expandable assembly transitions from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration when the elastomeric member moves within the medicament container. The valve portion moves relative to the opening when the expandable assembly transitions from the first to the second configuration, placing the gas chamber in fluid communication with the exterior volume.

  • Patent number: 11590286
Abstract: A method includes moving an actuation lock of a medical injector from a first position to a second position. The actuation lock has an extended portion disposed between a shoulder of a housing and the base when the actuation lock is in the first position. The extended portion is spaced apart from the base when the actuation lock is in the second position. A distal end portion of a base, which is movably coupled to an end portion of the housing, is placed into contact with a body. The base is actuated after the placing to release an energy from an energy storage member within the housing to produce a force to move a needle from a first needle position to a second needle position. At least a portion of the needle extends through the base when the needle is in the second needle position.
