  • Patent number: 11490873
Abstract: A phantom, phantom system, and method of phantom identification include a first material that forms a phantom. A phantom identifier includes at least one unit marker. The at least one unit marker identifies a physical characteristic of the phantom. In a method of phantom identification, an image of the phantom is obtained that includes the phantom identifier. The at least one unit marker is identified, the at least one unit marker encodes a value representative of a physical characteristic of the phantom.

  • Patent number: 9731148
Abstract: A system and method of delivering a radiation therapy treatment plan to a patient. The treatment plan is delivered using a radiation therapy system including a moveable support for supporting a patient, a gantry moveable relative to the support and supporting a radiation source and multi-leaf collimator for modulating the radiation source. The support and gantry are moved during delivery of the treatment plan.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 21, 2006
Date of Patent: August 15, 2017
    Assignee: TOMOTHERAPY INCORPORATED

  • Publication number: 20120330085
Abstract: A system and method for calibrating and positioning a radiation therapy treatment table with a high degree of precision and accuracy. The treatment table includes radiographic indexing markers embedded or inlaid therein. The radiographic indexing markers can include a density different from density of the table material, or a radio-frequency or magnetic contrasting matter, something that the imaging system and detector of the radiation therapy system can detect, so that when scanned, with or without a patient or phantom on the table, the precise location of the patient treatment table in the x, y and z planes is known. This is important so that the table may be reconstructed, alone or with a phantom on it, by the radiation therapy system software, providing a very good indication of where the table top is prior to treatment.

  • Publication number: 20110107515
Abstract: A patient support device for a radiation therapy treatment system and a method of manufacturing the same. The device includes a support having an upper surface and a lower surface and a fixture hole configuration that receives a patient fixation device. The fixture hole configuration includes at least one recess and reinforcing material positioned inside at least a portion of the at least one recess. The device may also include a lower support having an upper surface that includes at least one channel. Flat flex cable used to operate the patient support device is positioned within the at least one channel.

  • Publication number: 20100312104
Abstract: A system and method for calibrating and positioning a radiation therapy treatment table with a high degree of precision and accuracy. The system and method comprising a treatment table for use with a radiation therapy system with radiographic indexing markers embedded or inlaid in the patient treatment table. The radiographic indexing markers having a density different from density of the table material, or a radio-frequency or magnetic contrasting matter, something that the imaging system and detector of the radiation therapy system can detect, so that when scanned, with or without a patient or phantom on the table, the precise location of the patient treatment table in the x, y and z planes is known. The radiographic indexing markers may also have the ability to be visually seen by the technician, doctor, physicist or other health care provider conducting the procedure.
