  • Publication number: 20050050397
Abstract: Method and system for verifying and storing documents during a failure in a program module. Once a failure is detected in the program module, control passes to an exception handler that determines whether the open files have been modified. If so, a crash handler is executed, which verifies and stores the documents by detecting and repairing any discovered corruption. The program module is then terminated and restarted. Upon restarting the program module, the repaired document is opened and displayed to the user with a list of repairs.

  • Publication number: 20040133598
Abstract: A system and a methodology creates a mapping of a set of import parameters specifying a device in a first set of import data to a set of output parameters specifying the device in a first database. Such a mapping includes receiving the set of import parameters from an import file containing the first set of import data in a plurality of import records, each import record containing a plurality of import values, each import value corresponding to an import parameter from the set of import parameters; receiving the set of output parameters from the first database; and creating the mapping of the set of import parameters to the set of output parameters. The system and methodology described in here allows users to import data about various types of devices into a device database on a systematic and efficient method. Such a system and methodology also allows a user to maintain a complete database including all devices used within a process plant.

  • Patent number: 6567826
Abstract: A method and system for loading files into a spreadsheet application program (SAP) operating on a computer system, using an escalating load sequence. The SAP determines if a normal load mode failed while attempting to load the files. In response to determining that the normal load mode failed, the SAP escalates the load sequence to a safe load mode, where a plurality of checks are performed and the files are repaired. The SAP also determines if the safe load mode was successful in repairing and loading the files. If the SAP determines that the safe load mode was unsuccessful, the SAP escalates the load sequence to a data recovery mode, where the spreadsheet application program attempts to extract formulas and values from the file.

  • Patent number: 5808311
Abstract: Atomic displacement on a material surface is detected by, in a system comprising the tip of a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) and a material in question, upon an atomic displacement operation comprising extraction of atoms on the material surface and adsorption of atoms onto the material surface through application of a pulse voltage to the tip of STM, measuring a z-piezo voltage along the time series during and after application of the pulse voltage. Furthermore, heteroatoms dissociated by a reaction between the tip surface of STM and heteromolecules in a heteromolecular atmosphere are stored on the surface of the tip of STM, and then, heteroatoms are locally adsorbed onto the material surface by causing electro-evaporation of the heteroatoms through application of a prescribed scanning voltage to the tip of STM.
