  • Publication number: 20110056506
Abstract: Pre-shave compositions to lubricate skin during electric shaving that comprise at least one carboxy silicone polymer and a volatile component to serve as a carrier to the polymer. The pre-shave composition lubricates the skin to reduce skin friction between the electric razor and the skin surface, provides a closer shave, and provides improved feeling to the skin during and after shaving.

    Publication date: March 10, 2011
    Inventors: Teresa Petraia, Eric Spengler
  • Publication number: 20100069511
Abstract: Stable mixed emulsion systems containing at least two discrete and distinctly different dispersed particle size ranges, i.e., both nanoemulsion and macroemulsion semisolid dispersions, as well as a method of making the same, are disclosed. The stable mixed emulsions may be used for cosmetic and dermatological applications and provide unique benefits.

  • Publication number: 20060024248
Abstract: An oral care composition containing membrane-structured solid nanoparticles formed from a lyotropic liquid-crystalline mixed phase having an average particle diameter in the range of 10 to 1,000 nm. The nanoparticles are generally solid at 25° C. and are a combination of agent-carrier particles and emulsifiers. The membranes penetrate the nanoparticles so that the emulsifiers are present in the interior and on the surface of the nanoparticles.

  • Publication number: 20010047039
Abstract: The present invention relates to skin moisturizing compositions comprising a liquid crystal/gel network (LCGN) emulsion system comprising water, cationic emulsifiers, low HLB emulsifiers and emollients. In one aspect, the compositions comprise an emollient component as an occlusive agent, such as a petroleum-derived or a non-petroleum-derived occlusive agent, in the LCGN emulsion system. Additives such as adjuvants, active agents, or excipients may also be included in the compositions of the invention. The compositions of the present invention provide excellent moisturization and improved aesthetics (faster absorbency with more pleasant afterfeel properties) compared with traditionally available moisturizing products having different compositions and components and containing petroleum and/or mineral oil, to which are attributed greasiness and other unpleasant, user-perceived attributes.
