  • Patent number: 9483369
Abstract: An approach for efficient failover detection includes detecting an attempt by a first server to transition from a standby mode to an active mode, diagnosing a loss of connectivity to the first server in a control plane as a cause of the attempt, and transitioning to a standby mode based on the diagnosed cause of the attempt.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 24, 2014
Date of Patent: November 1, 2016
Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.
    Inventor: Eric Sporel
  • Patent number: 9419977
Abstract: An approach for providing value-based resource management and admission control is described. A value-based platform may receive a request from a user or a service provider to access an asset, a service, or a combination thereof. The value-based platform may further apply a policy rule to account information associated with the user to determine a user value score. The value-based platform may also generate prioritization information for admitting the user to the asset, the service, or a combination thereof based on the user value score.

  • Publication number: 20080112327
Abstract: A method for performing alternate and therefore least cost routing in distributed H.323 Voice over IP (VoIP) networks is provided. With this method, the VoIP network consists of a hierarchy of gatekeeper (GK) functions to provide alternate routing, network element redundancy, and scalability. The alternate routing function is performed by a directory gatekeeper with route selection advancing from a first route to a second route by either of two conditions: (1) there are no resources available to terminate the call in the first zone; and (2) a lack of response to the directory GK request for such resources.

  • Publication number: 20070165607
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for performing alternate routing of communications in a network. The system initiates a communication from an origination endpoint in a packet-switched network, such as a VOIP network, to a destination endpoint, and determining, according to selection criteria, whether to route the communication to the destination endpoint using at least a second circuit-switched network, such as the PSTN.

  • Publication number: 20070092073
Abstract: Enhanced call management services to users receiving incoming calls on extensions on a private branch exchange (PBX) is provided by an application server configured to provide call management services to at least one of the users and a protocol proxy configured to receive call information from the PBX according to a protocol for establishing call sessions. The application server is further configured to receive the call information from the protocol proxy.

  • Patent number: 5712978
Abstract: A system and method for interacting a central host with at least one remote processor, wherein each remote processor executes software that generates remote screen data to maintain a screen display, the system comprising: a central processor; a memory connected to the central processor; a communications link connecting the central processor to a remote processor; wherein the central processor receives the remote screen data from the remote processor and stores the remote screen data in the memory, the system executing predetermined actions based on the remote screen data.
