  • Publication number: 20230382078
Abstract: A formable and tear resistant polymeric composite is both formable, such as through thermal forming, and tear resistant, wherein the composite has a high resistance to cut propagation. This combination of properties is achieved by combing an inner formable portion with a tear resistant outside portion and an inside portion, which may also be configured to be tear resistant. The inner formable portion includes a plurality of oriented polymer layers that are bound together by a lower melting temperature inner adhesive and enables thermal forming of the composite. The outside portion includes a woven fabric including polymeric strands, such as tapes, that are preferably oriented to increase strength and tear resistance. The separation of the woven fabric layers from the inner portion enables the composite to be formed into a shape, such as a shell for luggage, while having improved tear resistance.

  • Patent number: 9603312
Abstract: Disclosed is a sprayable nonwoven fiber weed barrier comprising an aqueous solution of nonwoven fibers and polymer binder. The aqueous solution can be directly sprayed onto the soil to suppress weed penetration through the soil. The sprayable nonwoven fiber weed barrier has a pore structure that allows water to penetrate into the soil, but curbs the growth of weeds.

  • Publication number: 20160025905
Abstract: A coating composite material spray applied to a lens that is capable of transmitting light, with little loss, diffusively through the coated lens located near a light source, particularly in an LED lighting application. The coating material is formed from a polyurethane mixed with fluoroelastomer encapsulated glass bubbles and will allow for high diffusion, while also maintaining high transmission when applied to a lens near a lighting application, particularly LED fixture lenses.

  • Patent number: 8734940
Abstract: A diffusively reflective paint composition is disclosed for use in reflectors in lighting fixtures. The paint is formed by blending macroporous polymeric particles with a paint carrier. The macroporous polymeric particles are formed by reducing a reflective macroporous sheet material. The paint can further comprise solid or hollow microspheres. The paint can be applied to a variety of substrates to form diffusely reflective articles.
