Abstract: A system and method for compensating for misalignment of a sensing surface of an absolute position input sensor is provided. In one embodiment, a first set of points is displayed on a display, the first set of points configured to represent a currently configured boundary edge. A user then traces around the physical boundary edge, and a second set of points is displayed the display, with the second set of points configured to represent the traced physical boundary edge. A user then enters a second input, and in response first set of points on the display screen is offset to align with the second set of points. From the second input, an actual boundary edge relative to the sensor surface is determined. Then, the output of the absolute position input sensor is adjusted to align with the determined actual boundary edge.

Abstract: A DVD contains a first digital work comprising a DVD-video, a second digital work comprising one or more audio CD tracks and one or more software programs that enable access of the DVD-video and the second digital work to a personal computer. The CD tracks can be downloaded to a CD. In a preferred embodiment the second digital work contains digital information that when downloaded onto a CD produces an enhanced CD which is copy protected.

Abstract: Output copy protection of protected digital content is provided by adding detectable digital information (watermark) to the protected digital content wherein the detectable digital information is substantially undetectable when the protected digital audio content is processed on a personal computer. Also provided is a device driver configured on a personal computer which interfaces with components on the personal computer that allows content to exit the computer wherein the device driver (i) analyzes the digital content for the presence of the added detectable digital information and (ii) allows only authorized exiting of the protected digital audio content. Output copy protection is provided to digital content that is derived from any source such as a CD, a DVD, the Internet, an MP3 file, a flashcard or a broadcast transmission.

Abstract: A multiple session optical disc has a first audio session and one or more additional data sessions wherein at least one of the data sessions contain a data track as the first track and an extra audio or data track. When reading data from an optical disc in a computer a user will use a media player applications to access the audio content on the optical disc. It has been found that at least some application media players do not play audio content from said multiple session optical disc.

Abstract: A method of operating a personal computer includes steps of determining whether a digital recordation of content that is readable by a hardware device in the personal computer is protected; and responsive to a determination that the digital recordation of content is protected, selectively limiting which software programs are permitted to access digital information from the digital recordation of content. Programs that are authorized to access the digital information may include a conversion program for converting the digital work to a compressed file format that will be stored on the hard drive of the personal computer in a format that is governed by a digital rights management protocol, secure player software that is enabled to play the digital work directly from the digital recordation of content and controlled copy software that permits copies to be made under specified licensing conditions.

Abstract: A digital source of content such as a music album includes a storage media, which could be an optical disc such as the popular compact disc (CD) format for music albums or the digital versatile disc (DVD) format that is commonly used for consumer movie releases, and a digital work that is encoded in a digital format on the storage media. Information is advantageously encoded onto the storage media as well for enabling a copy management program on a personal computer to obtain advertising content that will be displayed on the personal computer. This information preferably includes a virtual address from which the advertising content may be retrieved, which could be a location on the storage media itself or an Internet address.
