  • Patent number: 7129704
Abstract: A well (10) for producing water is characterized in that it includes a network of widely spaced electrodes (8) electrically coupled with measurement means (3) or with electric current generation means (1). By utilizing a measurement result, the progression of a salt water front heading for the well (10) may be detected.

Date of Patent: October 31, 2006
    Assignee: Schlumberger Technology Corporation
Inventors: Jean-Pierre Delhomme, Christian Jennevin, Philippe Souhaite, Eric Veignat
  • Patent number: 7114386
Abstract: To acquire data such as the flow rate of various phases of a fluid flowing in a hydrocarbon well (12) in production, in particular in an inclined or horizontal portion of the well, both the local speed of the fluid and the proportions of the various phases are determined in each of at least two distinct regions of the well that are not in alignment with one another parallel to the axis of the well. The regions in which the measurements are taken are advantageously distributed in a vertical plane containing the axis of the well when the well is inclined or horizontal.

  • Patent number: 7071696
Abstract: The invention provides a support for measurement means for monitoring and/or studying a fluid reservoir (13) through which at least one well (11) passes, said support comprising: a cylindrical tube (2); and a jacket (3) surrounding said cylindrical tube. According to the invention, said jacket (3) has at least one recess (4, 5) for receiving means (6) for measuring a characteristic representative of said reservoir and/or connection means (7) leading to power supply and measurement-processing means (16). The invention also provides a measurement device for monitoring and/or studying a fluid reservoir (13) through which at least one well (11) passes, said device comprising: power supply and measurement processing means (16); means (6) for measuring a characteristic representative of said reservoir, and connection means (7) connecting said measurement means (6) to said power supply and measurement processing means (16).

  • Patent number: 6170570
Abstract: The invention provides a sinker bar for use with a hydrocarbon well apparatus connected to an operating cable through a cable head. The sinker bar includes a bar provided with a longitudinal slot. This slot is adapted to permit lateral engagement of the bar onto the cable, and to connect at one of its ends at the cable head. The bar may also be adapted to connect at its other end to a fishing head. The connection may be twist locked. The invention is applicable in particular with production logging apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5661237
Abstract: A method for producing, in a hydrocarbon well, a signal indicative of a local flow parameter of a multiphase fluid, includes the steps of placing at least one local sensor in the fluid and producing a signal whose level is characteristic of the phase in which the sensor is immersed, the signal being generated at a spike whose radius of curvature is less than 100 microns. The method is applicable to determining hold-ups of different phases of the fluid.
