  • Publication number: 20070102927
Abstract: The invention relates to a sealed tubular joint, initially comprising a first male tubular element (EM), with a male thread (FM), a first annular lip (L1), with a first axial abutting surface (SB1), a first internal surface (SI1), a section of a first external surface (SE1), a second abutting surface (SB2) and a second female tubular element (EF), with a female thread (FF), matching the male thread (FM), a second annular lip (L2), with a third abutting surface (SB3), a second external surface (SE2), arranged to face the first internal surface (SI1), a second internal surface (SI2) and a fourth axial abutting surface (SB4), supporting the first abutting surface (SB1) and defining, in particular with the second external surface (SE2), an annular housing (LO), matching the first lip (L1).

  • Publication number: 20060261595
Abstract: A threaded connection includes at least one contact zone axially separated from threadings in which a male and female elements are in sealed contact via bearing surfaces respectively constituted by a cambered surface and by a tapered surface. Such a contact zone ensures a seal against fluids despite positional inaccuracies in the male and female elements at the end of makeup, due to the geometrical characteristics of the threadings. Such a threaded connection can find, as an example, application to oil and gas wells.

  • Publication number: 20060162145
Abstract: To produce a sealing contact between male and female threaded elements, a contact zone is provided, located between male and female threading portions separated from each other in an axial direction. The male and female elements have respective cylindrical portions that extend over the entire length of the contact zone. After expansion, a sealing contact is established between surfaces in two annular areas by a radial interference fit.

  • Publication number: 20050248153
Abstract: A threaded joint for steel pipes comprises a pin (1) and a box (2). The pin has male thread (11), a sealing surface (13), and a shoulder surface (14) located on the end face of the pin. Correspondingly, the box has female thread (21), a sealing surface (23), and a shoulder surface (24) which can mate or contact with the corresponding portions of the pin. The shoulder surface (14) of the pin (1) is provided at an end face of the pin. The sealing surface (13) of the pin (1) is located on a pipe end side near the male thread (11). A a nose portion (15) is provided on the pin (1) between the sealing surface (13) and the shoulder surface (14), the nose portion (15) being not in contact with a corresponding portion of the box (2).

  • Publication number: 20050172472
Abstract: A tubular joint in which radial expansion caused by the passage of an expander, inclined shoulder fittings formed respectively on a peripheral surface of the female element facing radially inwards and on a peripheral surface of the male element facing radially outwards, are subjected to a relative axial displacement towards each other to be urged into sealed mutual contact with radial interference. The tubular joint is, for example, useful in hydrocarbon wells.

  • Publication number: 20050087983
Abstract: The invention relates to a high-performance threaded tubular joint comprising a first, male tubular element (11) and a second, female tubular element (12) made up together by screwing. One of the tubular elements (11; 12) has a non-threaded lip (38; 5) extending between its thread and its free end and having a sealing surface (40; 7) in sealing-tight contact with the opposite surface (41; 8) of the other element after screwing together, diametric expansion, and then generation of springback forces of the first and second tubular elements. The joint has a tubular sleeve (34; 36) threaded over the second element (12) before screwing together and positioned to extend axially substantially opposite to the lip (3; 5) and, after diametric expansion, generating a springback force which is added to that of the second element in order to counteract the springback force of the first element, thus effecting at least the shrink-fitting of the tubular sleeve over the second element.
