  • Publication number: 20160361903
Abstract: Embodiments provide multilayer film structures, methods for making and using the same, and compositions for forming multilayer film structures, i.e., applications for the disclosed compositions. Embodiments may be remarkable in any or all of the following, example characteristics: (i) performance in a number of packaging and labeling applications; (ii) poly-lamination bonds; (iii) excellent sealing (e.g., heat or pressure-sensitive) to PE films; (iv) a receptive print surface to a broad range of inks (e.g., ordinary, metallic, UV-cured, solvent-based, water-based, etc.) that may be used in flexible or rigid packaging and labeling applications; and (v) substantially equivalent extrusion lamination bonds, sealing, and print performance to that achieved with PE skin(s), but without the manufacturing difficulties associated with co-extrusion of PE skin layers with a PP core layer.

  • Patent number: 9346246
Abstract: Multi-layer laminated structures are disclosed. Such structures include a multi-layer polymeric film having a Layer A that includes at least one polymer and a polymeric sealant layer adjacent to Layer A. The sealant layer has a surface roughness, Ra>5.0 and a Peak Count Value, Pc>50.0. The multi-layer laminated structures also include a substrate in surface contact with the multi-layer polymeric film, typically opposite the sealant layer. Such structures have a top seal and/or side seal of the polymeric sealant layer to itself has a seal strength of >5.00×102 grams/inch at 177° C. The multi-layer films may be transparent, contain a cavitating agent, or are pigmented to form an opaque film. Also, the multi-layer film may be metallized or coated with a barrier coating.

  • Publication number: 20140037887
Abstract: A flexible, low haze multi-layer film comprising a print skin layer; a slip skin layer comprising from 0.5 wt % to 10 wt % of a surface cross-linked oil or gum polyalkylsiloxane; and a core layer comprising polypropylene between the skin layers; wherein the oily polyalkylsiloxane may have a viscosity within the range of from 10,000 to 100,000 cSt (25° C.) when not cross-linked; or wherein the gum polyalkylsiloxane may have a viscosity within the range of from 1,000,000 to 50,000,000 cSt (25° C.) when not cross-linked. Such multi-layered film can be adhered on the print skin layer side to an adhesive substrate, wherein the adhesive substrate comprises a cold seal adhesive opposite the multi-layer film to form a laminate packaging.
