  • Patent number: 5292044
Abstract: A non-slip pattern (14) is permanently secured to an engaging surface (32) which is adapted to engage a load supporting element such as a human shoulder. A non-slip carrying strap (10) is formed utilizing a strap pad (12) upon which the non-slip pattern (14) is secured. The pattern (14) consists of a plurality of elongated bar portions (40) formed of a liquid silicon rubber material (38). The bar portions (40) are arrayed in a grid (50) to inhibit sliding motion in any direction and the bar portions are formed to have a trapezoidal cross section, including apexes to enhance friction. The shoulder engaging surface (32) is a fabric including a back plane (46) of base fibers (44) from which upright fibers (48) extend, with the bar portions (40) being applied and curved so as to encompass the fibers. The primary usage is as a carrying strap (10) for a golf bag.

  • Patent number: 4778136
Abstract: A golf bag with integral stand (10) that allows the bag portion (12) to rest in a semi-upright position. The bag portion (12) is supported by two support members (38 and 40). The positioning of the support members (38 and 40) is controlled by a series of three webbings (56, 64, and 70) in conjunction with the bag strap (34) and elasticized shock cords (51 and 52). Forces applied to the bag strap (34) are transmitted to the support members (38 and 40) via the webbings (56, 64, and 70). When pressure on the bag strap (34) is released, the shock cords (51 and 52) urge the support legs (38 and 40) away from the bag portion (12) toward their stand position. The support member (38 and 40) are removably attached to the bag portion (12) by means of a support member housing (42). The support member housing (42) is attached to the reinforcing spine (18). The golf bag device (10) will be of great utility to all golfers who desire to carry their own clubs. The bag (10) will be marketed wherever golf equipment is sold.

  • Patent number: 4685561
Abstract: The present invention in its preferred embodiment is a golf bag device (10) including an interior divider (34) which forms full length club storage compartments (26, 28, 30, and 32) in the bag portion (12). The bag has a longitudinal axis which is offset from the horizontal, thus improving club access. The interior divider (34) is formed from a single sheet of lightweight plastic. The divider (34) further provides longitudinal spatial integrity to the bag (10). The bag portion (12) is further provided with storage pouches (41 and 43) strategically situated so as to avoid contact with the ground. The bag (10) has a rounded triangular cross section to create greater stability when the bag (10) is laid down. The shape of the collar member (22) and the internal compartments (26, 28, 30 and 32) maximizes convenience to the golfer during club storage and retrieval.

  • Patent number: 4676464
Abstract: A golf bag with integral stand (10) that allows the bag portion (12) to rest in a semi-upright position. The bag portion (12) is supported while at rest by two support members (28 and 29). The positioning of these members (28 and 29) is controlled by a pair of transverse members (30 and 36), to which force is applied by means of a sling, or bag strap (32). The range of motion of the support members (28 and 29) is limited by restraining posts (40, 42, 44, and 46) in the preferred embodiment or by stops (148, 150, and 152) in an alternate embodiment. Limiting the range of motion of the support members (28 and 29) ensures that they will be in the appropriate position both while the bag 10 is being carried and while it is at rest. The open end (20) of the bag portion (12) is supported by a rigid collar (22) containing cross members (24) to provide for separation of the clubs. Further, the preferred bag portion (12) has a cross section with the shape of a rounded triangle.
