Abstract: Described is a method for controlling a user's access and viewing rights to a weblog used to track the status of a workflow based on one or more roles or responsibilities of the user in the workflow. Advantageously, the workflow is not required to change when workflow members leave their assigned roles or are unable to perform their workflow tasks. Instead, new members are assigned to the roles and access and viewing rights are changed accordingly. Optionally, a person responsible for a workflow instance can grant access and viewing rights for the particular workflow to an individual who is not a member of the workflow.

Abstract: The present invention provides a user interface that includes a first column for chronologically displaying a set of messages (objects) in a conversation, and a second column for displaying a branch of messages (objects) corresponding to a message (object) selected in the first column. The user interface further includes, among other things, a list of participants to the conversation, a vertical index (time line), a list of related conversations and a conversation map that illustrates a hierarchy of the conversation. Each message (object) in the first column can have an associated indicator for indicating a quantity of predecessors and successors to the set of messages (objects), as well as an in-line reply button for replying to the set of messages. Each of the messages displayed of the second column can have one or more associated navigation buttons for navigating adjacent hierarchical levels.

Abstract: A synchronization method and apparatus for detecting and synchronizing asynchronous signal data pulses. The synchronization system passes individual data pulses through two parallel synchronization sub-circuits, alternating synchronization sub-circuits for each succeeding pulse, and combines the output of the parallel synchronization sub-circuits to create a single synchronous signal.

Abstract: A dual processor system comprises a first processor coupled to a second processor by a system address bus and a data bus. The second processor has a control register having a control register system address, an internal memory, a data register having a data register system address and coupled to the internal memory, and an internal address generator coupled to the control register and to the internal memory. The control word is written into the control register when the first processor places a control word having a burst mode bit and a starting internal address on the data bus and asserts the control register system address on the system address bus. The second processor enters a burst mode in which the internal address generator selects consecutive memory locations of the internal memory, starting at the starting internal address specified in the control word stored in the control register, during subsequent data transfer cycles, when the control word has a burst mode bit indicating burst mode.

Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for ensuring synchronization for digital communication between a transmitting and a receiving device, particularly when the clock and/or frame synchronization is sourced from a different location than the transmit data. In accordance with the first aspect of the invention, the transmitting device employs a look ahead algorithm to begin transmitting data before actual receipt of the frame synchronization signal.

Abstract: A computer peripheral device suitable for operation with a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Bus or the like, has the ability to “wakeup” the bus from a cold state (e.g., D3cold) without the need to supply auxiliary power (e.g., 3.3 volts) to the entire device during the cold state. A modem in the preferred embodiment (although the invention is applicable to other peripheral devices), the device latches device status information from the main circuitry of the device (operating on 5 volts, for example) into a “keep alive” circuit connected to the auxiliary power supply upon the falling edge of a PCI reset signal (RST#). Additionally, the auxiliary power supply also powers a ring detect circuit for the detection of an incoming telephone call, which incoming call triggers a Power Management Event (PME#) signal for changing the state of the bus to an active state.
