  • Publication number: 20060199781
Abstract: This invention pertains to the discovery that BTF3 plays a critical, negative-regulatory role in programmed cell death (PCD) in C. elegans and other species. Overexpression of BTF3 leads to decreased programmed cell death, while inactivation of BTF3 leads to increased programmed cell death. Methods of modulating (upregulating or downregulating) programmed cell death by increasing or decreasing expression and/or activity of BTF3 are provided. These methods are useful in the treatment of various pathologies including, but not limited to cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 16, 2005
    Publication date: September 7, 2006
Inventors: Joel Rothman, Tim Bloss, Eric Witze
