Patent number: 6965651Abstract: Apparatus and method receives and reorders a multi-dimensional signal transmitted through a communication channel using a slicer/encoder coupled to a pair-swap and symbol alignment module. The slicer/encoder uses a code that reduces the number of bits for each symbol in the multidimensional signal as required to pass through the pair-swap and symbol alignment module that detects and corrects pair-swap and symbol misalignment in the multidimensional signal. Decoders reverse the encoding done on the multidimensional signal by the encoder, and correct errors that occurred in the transmission of multidimensional signal over the communication channel. Serialized circuitry and performance of symbol alignment and pair-swap reordering in one pass significantly reduce circuitry and power consumption.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2001Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Assignee: Micrel, Inc.Inventor: Eric Ying-Chin Chou

Patent number: 6820077Abstract: Methods for navigating a large amount of data are disclosed. In one embodiment, the present invention accesses a source of formatted warehoused data. The present invention then displays a grid on a display device. In one embodiment, the grid is an iconic representation of the formatted warehoused data. The grid is comprised of elements, each element corresponding to some portion of the formatted warehoused data. The present invention displays a portion of the formatted warehoused data on the display device in response to a selection of a corresponding element of the grid. In another embodiment, the formatted warehoused data is condensed so that it can be read in summary form to a user using a voice-based protocol. The user can issue voice commands to drill down deeper into the data, until the desired information is reached. The user thus doesn't need to hear all of the information in the formatted warehoused data, but instead can make inquiries to directly navigate to a particular item of interest.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2002Date of Patent: November 16, 2004Assignee: Informatica CorporationInventors: Niels Godfredsen, Spencer Lord, Yusuf Bashir, Eric Ying, Oliver Tse

Publication number: 20030145389Abstract: A process for generating high hydrophilicity for artificial fiber fabric includes the steps of putting an artificial-fiber fabric to be processed in a closed tank; supplying a gas from a gas source supplying device into the closed tank; actuating a plasma exciter to ionize the gas supplied into the closed tank and thereby produce plasma; and modifying surface of the artificial fiber fabric in the closed tank with the produced plasma. The processed artificial fiber fabric shows high moisture absorption and allows rapid natural evaporation of the absorbed moisture.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2002Publication date: August 7, 2003Inventors: Richard M. Patent number: 6252218Abstract: An active pixel sensor having an amorphous silicon sensing layer and a semiconductor readout layer. A plurality of P-I-N photodiodes are disposed in the sensing layer. The photodiodes define subpixels that are arranged in a hexagonal grid layout. The subpixels can have a hexagonal shape or a circular shape. The sensing layer can include color filters for implementing a color pattern, an infrared filter to absorb infrared radiation, and a microlens for focusing an image on the subpixels. The subpixels can be arranged in a triangular configuration to form a pixel and adjacent pixels can be arranged in the hexagonal grid layout. The readout layer includes a plurality of readout rectangular readout cells that correspond to the subpixels in the sensing layer. The readout cells can be arranged in a triangular configuration to match the subpixels in the sensing layer. The P-I-N photodiodes have an output for generating an output signal that is communicated to the readout cells in the readout layer.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1999Date of Patent: June 26, 2001Assignee: Agilent Technologies, IncInventor: Eric Ying-Chin Chou
