  • Patent number: 7416409
Abstract: An appliance for adjusting tooth and/or jaw malpositions, includes an upper arch wire suitably to be attached to teeth on the upper jaw of a user; a lower arch wire suitably to be attached to teeth on the lower jaw of the user; and a force-transfer element for mechanically connecting the upper arch wire and the lower arch wire to each other. The force-transfer element has a first longitudinal axis and includes a first end comprising an angled section. The angled section has a first hole, the longitudinal axis of which is parallel to the first longitudinal axis. The force-transfer element also includes a second end which is opposite to the first end and has a second hole which is rotationally offset 90° relative to the first hole.

  • Patent number: 4169712
Abstract: A solar energy collection and utilization system includes a reservoir having a heat transfer fluid stored therein, and a platform supported by the fluid. A solar energy collector is carried by the platform, the system further including a fluid conductor in the collector for receiving energy collected from solar radiation and heating the heat transfer fluid passing therethrough. Appropriate piping is provided between the reservoir and the fluid conductor such that the fluid heated by the collector is stored in the reservoir for subsequent use for heating applications, including methane generation in a separate facility.

  • Patent number: 4023948
Abstract: A solar energy refrigeration and air conditioning system for cooling an enclosed area comprising a low temperature vapor generator, condenser and evaporator specifically configured for use with a low boiling point refrigerant to use solar energy as a means of vapor generation. The low temperature vapor generator is coupled to an externally heated water source through a first fluid drive means. The low temperature vapor generator and evaporator feed refrigerant vapor to the condenser through means of an ejector while the liquid refrigerant is recirculated from the condenser to the low temperature vapor generator and evaporator by a second fluid drive means. Chilled fluid from the evaporator is circulated through a coil contained in an air handling system to cool the enclosed area. Of course, refrigerant could be evaporated in the evaporator by exposing evaporator heat exchange surfaces directly to the air in the duct thus cooling air directly.
