  • Patent number: 4994348
Abstract: A light-sensitive recording material for the production of intaglio printing plates comprises a photopolymerizable and/or photocrosslinkable material which is soluble or dispersible in a developer liquid and on exposure to actinic light is rendered insoluble or no longer dispersible in this developer liquid and which, at least in a surface zone of the surface of the layer which forms the later surface of the printing plate, contains finely divided abrasive particles whose average particle size is within the range from 0.1 to 6 .mu.m, which have a hardness of >4.0 on the Mohs hardness scale, the surface of the layer which forms the later surface of the printing plate has a peak-to-valley height of <2 .mu.m, and the photocrosslinkable and/or photopolymerizable material contains a reaction product of a cycloaliphatic epoxy with acrylic acid or methacrylic acid.

  • Patent number: 4960673
Abstract: Photopolymerizable laminates suitable for producing flexible and resilient printing plates carry on a dimensionally stable base at least one intermediate layer and on top thereof a photopolymerizable layer which consists essentially of a mixture of a water-soluble copolymer or derivative of polyvinyl alcohol, a specific copolymerizable mono-functional (meth)acrylate, a photoinitiator and a thermal polymerization inhibitor.

  • Patent number: 4842987
Abstract: A photosensitive recording element which is suitable for the production of printing plates or resist images possesses a photopolymerizable recording layer which is applied to a dimensionally stable base, can be developed in an aqueous alkaline medium and contains, as a polymeric binder, one or more film-forming copolymers which are insoluble in water but soluble or dispersible in aqueous alkaline solutions and consist of from 10 to 50% by weight of one or more N-vinylamides, preferably N-vinylcaprolactam and/or N-vinylpyrrolidone, from 5 to 30% by weight of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, from 30 to 80% by weight of one or more comonomers from the group consisting of the vinyl aromatics and (meth)acrylates of monoalkanols and from 0.2 to 5% by weight of an olefinically unsaturated compound which contains basic nitrogen atoms and has a pK.sub.a >4.

  • Patent number: 4699056
Abstract: An apparatus for applying printing ink onto a form roller of a printing machine which includes an enclosed ink fountain mounted adjacent the form roller. The ink fountain has a housing with a chamber formed thereon. A friction roller is rotatably and eccentrically movably mounted within the chamber of the ink fountain housing, wherein the eccentricity distance of the friction roller in relationship to the ink fountain housing and the rotation of direction and speed of the friction roller are independently adjustable. The eccentricity distance of the friction roller relative to the ink fountain housing is adjustable from a concentric position of the friction roller in the chamber of the ink fountain housing to a contact position of the friction roller with the ink fountain housing. The apparatus further includes a pair of doctor blades positioned longitudinally along the form roller for defining an ink space between the ink fountain housing and the form roller.

  • Patent number: 4072455
Abstract: A spiral-line press with a double contra-screw arrangement fixed on a single shaft. Each of the screws on the spiral-line press have a length/diameter ratio of less than or equal to 14/1 and a combined L/D - ratio of less than or equal to 28/1. In addition, the phase depth of the metering zones are less than or equal to 1/25th of the spiral diameter and the peripheral speed of the spiral-line press is greater than or equal to 0.3 m/sec. The output from the metering zones of the spiral-line press are extruded by an outlet fitting which transforms the flows of the extruded matter so that one output is extruded concentrically around the other.

  • Patent number: 4015781
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for the conversion of plastic waste into usable material, in which a number of rotating knives are arranged at the bottom of a cylindrical space receiving the plastic waste, and in which by deflecting means arranged along the periphery of said space, the plastic waste, while being cut and circulated by the rotating knives, is directed back into the path of said rotating knives.

  • Patent number: 4012477
Abstract: Method of extruding a plastic film using a single roll which is rotatably and horizontally mounted between spaced-apart supporting members, each having curved recesses partially accommodating and encompassing opposite portions of the circumference of the roller. Molten plastic is distributed along the length of the roller, and the roller is preferably revolved to carry the molten plastic through the first recess to the second recess, whereby a substantially equal accumulation of plastic is collected in each recess and at opposite locations on the surface of the roller. The second accumulation of plastic is further located at a die aperture in the adjacent one of the two supporting members, whereby plastic from the second accumulation is extruded through the die aperture to form the sheet stock sought to be produced.
