  • Patent number: 5575302
Abstract: A filter for removing nitrogen oxides (NO.sub.x) from tobacco smoke comprises A) a poly(arylene thioether), B) if appropriate a conventional filter material and C) if appropriate at least one surface-active solid. By means of use of this filter, in particular, nitrogen dioxide is virtually completely removed from the smoke.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 1994
Date of Patent: November 19, 1996
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Erich Blocker, Andreas Schleicher
  • Patent number: 5281637
Abstract: Flameproofed thermoplastic polyester molding material comprising(A) one or more thermoplastic polyesters,(B) a nitrogen-containing diphosphinic acid compound of the formula (I), and(C) with or without an amine,(D) with or without inorganic reinforcing agents, and(E) with or without processing auxiliaries. The nitrogen-containing diphosphinic acid compounds are effective even in relatively low concentrations and thus do not adversely affect the mechanical and electrical properties of the flameproofed polyester molding materials. The latter are used in the production of molded articles.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 25, 1994
    Assignee: Hoechst AG
    Inventor: Erich Blocker
  • Patent number: 4880860
Abstract: The invention relates to polyester molding compositions, comprising substantially the polyester, preferably polyethylene terephthalate, a nucleating agent, a special imide compound as a further crystallization accelerator and, if appropriate, the conventional reinforcing agents and additives. The special crystallization accelerator according to the invention is virtually unreactive with the polyester and, in particular, is considerably more resistant to migration than relevant crystallization accelerators according to the state of the art. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of these polyester molding compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 25, 1988
Date of Patent: November 14, 1989
    Assignee: Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventor: Erich Blocker
  • Patent number: 4661579
Abstract: The invention relates to completely aromatic polyesters in which at least one end of the molecular chains is composed of the radicals ##STR1## The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of polyesters of this type and to the shaped articles produced therefrom. The polyesters according to the invention are also open to subsequent solid-phase condensation.
