Abstract: The present invention relates to vaccine conjugates composed of a hapten linked to a carrier compound, which are used for active or passive immunization in order to elicit antibodies against the hapten. The carrier compound used in the present invention is composed of a multitude of typically dozens of similar elements. Assuming each species of elements has at least one binding site for the hapten, this allows a) to maximize the degree of substitution of hapten molecules per carrier compound which may enhance the yield and avidity of elicited antibodies b) to use carrier compounds which are particularly easy to produce such as a polypeptide carrier leading to the manufacturing of cheap vaccines c) the production of particularly well defined conjugates, suited for rapid regulatory approval and well standardized immune responses.
