  • Patent number: 5967074
Abstract: A sailing yacht, in addition to its ballast keel (2), has at least one winged keel ( ) which optionally also carries ballast. Both ballast keel (2) and winged keel (1) are mounted to swivel on the hull of the sail ship around an axis aligned essentially in the longitudinal direction of the sail ship. Thus, by swivelling ballast keel (2) the righting moment is changed, for example, increased. By swivelling winged keel (1) its lateral plane part can be changed and thus can be kept large even when the sailing yacht is heeling.

  • Patent number: 5522192
Abstract: A gate girder (5)is provided over the gateway opening of a hangar. To diminish the roof load and working load stressing the gate girder (5), it is supported by at least one girder support (1), which can be combined with a sliding gate plate (1'). On the lower and upper edges of girder support (1), rollers (9, 10) are provided, which are at equal distances from one another. To assure a uniform stress both of the upper support of gate girder (5) and of lower footing (6), in each case pairs of upper rollers (9) are mounted by levers (7) on supports (16), which are guided vertically movable in sliding gate panel (1'). In addition, a freely rotatable roller (15)is mounted on each support (16). A steel cable (18) wound around rollers (15), is placed over each roller (15), which in addition is guided by deflecting rollers (14) mounted freely rotatable on girder support (1), and is fixed with its ends (19) to the girder support (1).

  • Patent number: 4993235
Abstract: A window, facade or wall construction includes at least three panes of glass which are separated from one another to delimit at least two intermediary spaces. A heat-transfer medium which can be colored or pigmented is circulated through one of the intermediary spaces. If heat is to be absorbed from the outside in a winter mode of operation, the heat-transfer medium, which is colder than the outside temperature, is conducted through an outermost intermediary space. In the summer mode of operation, when heat is to be removed from the interior of a building by the heat-transfer medium, the medium is conducted through the intermediary space which is nearest the interior area. Intermediary spaces which do not conduct the medium function as additional insulators. The heat-transfer medium when heated in this manner can be fed to a heat pump or the like.

  • Patent number: 4953329
Abstract: A supporting frame structure including supporting bars is disclosed. The structure is polygonally-curved in at least one direction to increase its dimensional stability despite a low bending resistance of the bars of the supporting structure and the bar bend points or nodes. Two bar bend points are connected together by a prestressed tension member of a first set of prestressed tension members while two bend points, which lie on opposite sides of one of the two bend points connected by the tension member of the first set, are connected by a tension member of a second set of prestressed tension members. To dampen vibrations induced in the supporting frame structure, spring-damper elements are provided. Such spring-damper elements also can be used to prestress the tension members of the two sets thereof.

  • Patent number: 4902159
Abstract: A joint having a plurality of bars inserted through apertures into a metal casing adapted to be filled with a grout is disclosed. The casing has projecting members that taper in stepwise fashion from an enlarged portion covering the apertures.

  • Patent number: 4836967
Abstract: A process for forming a joint for connecting a plurality of bars in a metal casing includes the steps of pouring a granulated solid into the metal casing and prestressing the solid by driving in a mandrel through the filling aperture of the casing. Thereafter, an unsinkable or a low-shrinkage hardening fluid is injected into the metal casing and permitted to harden.

  • Patent number: 4822198
Abstract: In a joint including a plurality of bars linked thereby, the ends of the bars are inserted through apertures in a metal casing which is filled with a hardening grout. The ends of the bars received in the casing have necked-down portions having two tapered members therein which are oriented with their tapering sections facing in opposition and which are pretensioned toward each other by a tensioning member to contact the walls of the necked down portion in flatwise abutting engagement, in opposite sections of the necked down portion.

  • Patent number: 4771582
Abstract: To prevent the vibrations caused by wind in suspended-roof supporting frameworks, the suspended-roof supporting framework has main chains composed of bar-shaped main links of relatively small cross section. The ends of these main links are connected to one another at joint centers, and the ends of the main chains are fastened to a stationary perimeter structure. The joint centers of adjacent main chains are connected by means of supplemental links of larger cross section. The supplemental links are larger in cross section than the main links, so they form supplemental chains which are heavier than the main chains. The supplemental chains extend obliquely relative to the main chains, and their ends are fastened to the perimeter structure.

  • Patent number: 4067437
Abstract: An endless conveyor includes plural load bearing plates mounted for continual horizontal movement by two endless chains which run in spaced and parallel vertical planes. Each plate has at diagonally opposite corners thereof a pivotally connected main support which is driven by one of the chains. Each plate also has pivotally connected thereto, at only one of the other corners thereof, an auxiliary support which is not driven by a chain but which is laterally aligned with and rotationally connected with a laterally opposite main support. The remaining corner of each plate is unsupported. All of the three supports have rollers which are guided in endless guide rails, such that the plates maintain a constant horizontal alignment.
