  • Publication number: 20040141880
Abstract: There is disclosed a sample processing system for processing a sample contained in a liquid. Specifically, there is disclosed a sample processing system comprising a pipettor, and a cartridge. The cartridge comprises a chamber which has an inlet and an outlet. The chamber contains a microarray device having an active surface. The active surface is accessible to liquid contained in the chamber. The cartridge further comprises an optical interface that provides optical access to the active surface of the microarray device, an inlet port and an outlet port. The inlet port is so configured and dimensioned that it forms an air-tight connection with a pipette tip when the pipette tip is inserted into the inlet port.

  • Patent number: 4676653
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for determining the diffuse reflectivity of a sample surface of small dimensions, especially of the test field of a test strip for determining the substances contained in a body fluid. The apparatus has a semiconductor light emitter, especially a light-emitting diode, for the emission of visible or infrared light to the sample surface, a measuring receiver for receiving the light diffusely reflected by the sample surface and producing an electrical signal corresponding thereto, an evaluating means including an electronic circuit for converting the receiver signal to a value corresponding to the diffuse reflectivity, and a reference channel using the light from the same emitter for the calibration of the apparatus and for the elimination of errors of measurement caused by variations of the emitter or of other electronic components.

  • Patent number: 4175784
Abstract: A sliding panel device for a cutout in a vehicle body panel, such as a sliding top of an automobile roof, of the type having a sliding panel that is movable between open and closed positions, a headliner displaceable between open and closed positions, a drive cable attached to the sliding panel for displacing the sliding panel and a stationary cantilevered guide for slidably guiding the movement of the cable is improved by the provision of a support attached to the headliner for supporting the cantilevered end of the stationary guide, the support being slidably engageable therewith. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the support supports the guide at at least a pushed-back open position thereof.
