Patent number: 5356028Abstract: A pre-glued, flat folding box contains a section of tubular film (5) glued to the box to form an inner bag. The tubular film section has bending lines (8,9) in all four corners of the body of the folding box which extend to the edges of the section of tubular film. This makes it easier to erect the folding box containing the section of tubular film and to fill and close the package.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1993Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Carl Edelmann GmbHInventors: Erich Heuberger, Wolf-Dieter Knorrich

Patent number: 5314088Abstract: There is provided a cardboard packaging for liquids which consists of a folding box, an inner bag arranged therein and made from a plastic material, and of a withdrawal nozzle which is accessible from the outside through a hole formed in one wall of the folding box. The withdrawal nozzle comprises a base plate which is welded or bonded in liquid-tight fashion to the bag at the inner side of said bag in a weldless area thereof. The inner bag is only bonded to and easily detachable from the folding box wall that includes the hole for the withdrawal nozzle, but, apart from this, is not bonded to the walls of the folding box. The withdrawal nozzle is therefore secured against rotation, and the bag is sufficiently fixed in the folding carton. In addition, it can easily collapse during emptying, and the packaging can be easily disassembled into its cardboard and plastic parts after use (FIG. 2 ).Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1992Date of Patent: May 24, 1994Assignees: The Coca-Cola Company, Carl Edelmann GmbHInventors: Erich Heuberger, Wolf-Dieter Knorrich, Joachim W. Patent number: 5275332Abstract: Described is a cardboard box package having an inner bag and wherein three of four top cover flaps are integrally interconnected, with the intermediate one of said cover flaps extending from a side face of the box being folded to the shape of a triangle and folded down onto the top face of the cardboard box. The inner bag has its sealed upper end portion partially passed between the cover flaps and locally bonded thereto. Outwards folding of the triangularly folded cover flap and tearing a section of the inner bag end portion off permits a pouring spout to be formed and the package to be thereby opened (FIG. 1).Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1992Date of Patent: January 4, 1994Assignee: Carl Edelmann GmbHInventors: Erich Heuberger, Michael Fuchs, Manfred Hoffmann, Peter Krekow, Thomas Rossle, Ernst Wohrle

Patent number: 5246162Abstract: Described is a cardboard box for pourable material, in particular liquids, consisting of a folding box having a rectangular base section and made of cardboard, and an inner bag disposed therein. At its upper end, the body of the folding box is provided with a circumferential collar adapted to be folded inwards for closing the folding box, and a cover flap extending from a portion of the collar for covering the end portion of the inner bag projecting from the collar in its sealed and flattened-down condition in the adhesively secured state of the flap. The cover flap is provided with a portion formed as a tearing tab permitting the folding box to be torn open together with a section disposed therebelow of the upper end portion of the inner bag. In this manner it is possible to form a pouring spout of the type already generally known from milk packages.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1992Date of Patent: September 21, 1993Assignee: Carl Edelmann GmbHInventors: Erich Heuberger, Michael Fuchs, Helmut Sieber

Patent number: 5147062Abstract: A pack container for liquids is described, comprising an upright folded carton containing an inside bag of plastic material. In its upper region the pack container is slanted on one or two sides to roughly approximate the appearance of a washing concentrate bottle. Optionally the pack container can be provided with a filling and pouring sleeve with a screw cap closure arranged in its head end or it can be opened at one of its slanted sides, whereby zig-zag shaped folded sections of the main surface areas (1, 4) of the folded carton can be uprighted to thus form a pouring opening in which a corner tail of the inside bag is accessible for cutting off.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1990Date of Patent: September 15, 1992Inventors: Erich Heuberger, Karl-Josef Ehrhart

Patent number: 5048691Abstract: A container with an inner pouch includes an outer cardboard shell with interconnected bottom and top flaps and a leakproof inner pouch with a closeable spout. The outer shell in its front side wall has an inwardly inclined upper portion provided with an orifice for the spout, and in its two lateral side walls has triangular, folded-in sections adjacent the inclined portion of the front side wall. The spout projects through a wall of the pouch and has a flange at the inner end which is secured to the interior surface of the pouch. At least one tear-off strip is located in at least one side wall of the outer shell, which, upon removal, permits the plastic inner pouch to be effortlessly removed from the shell.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1990Date of Patent: September 17, 1991Assignee: Carl Edelmann GmbHInventors: Erich Heuberger, Wolf-Dieter Knorrich

Patent number: 4890772Abstract: A transport and storage container for concentrates of beverages or the like for making a ready-to-drink beverage by means of a drink-making machine is provided in the form of an inner bag package, whereof the two narrow side walls, as well as the top and bottom, are parallel to each other, whereof the narrow side wall containing the concentrate outlet, removal and connection, piece and the opposite narrow side wall form angles of approximately 93.degree. and 87.degree. with the top and with the bottom. The two triangular wall portions of the inner bag gussets located in the bottom and top planes of the package are sealed or welded together, and a viewing window structure is provided in the outer cardboard casing of the package adjacent the end where the concentrate outlet piece is located.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1987Date of Patent: January 2, 1990Assignees: Carl Edelmann Verpackungstechnik, Coca Cola CompanyInventors: Erich Heuberger, Wolf-Dieter Knorrich, Joachim W. Patent number: 4245743Abstract: The packing means of this invention includes a liquid impervious inner bag that is sealed at its upper end and which is closed at its bottom end. The bag is positioned within a tubular folding box which is closed at the bottom and which has, at its upper end, closure flaps hinged to three of the sidewalls. One of the closure flaps is adhesively secured to the sealed end of the inner bag so that when the adhesively secured closure flap, or a portion thereof, is torn away the inner bag is automatically opened and a pouring spout is formed.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1979Date of Patent: January 20, 1981Assignee: Carl Edelmann GmbHInventor: Erich Heuberger
