  • Patent number: 5040922
Abstract: A device for repairing a main (1) can also be used to repair a leaking, corroded section of a branch pipe (2) which opens into the main. The device has a toothed rod (17) which can be extended approximately radially and rotated in the axis of the branch pipe by rotation of a pipe end cover plate (14). A hose (23), which extends from the center of the pipe end cover plate (14), is fastened to the free end of the toothed rod by means of a pipe piece (29). An air bubble (31) is placed on the pipe piece (29) and inflated by compressed air blown through the hose until it becomes lodged in the branch pipe itself. After the air bubble is detached, a cover plate is mounted on the end of the hose and a hardenable material is pumped through the hose into the cavity formed between the cover plate and the air bubble (31).

  • Patent number: 4986314
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a carriage (2) which carries on one face a working head (8) for a tool such as a milling tool (18). The working head is fully rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the carriage by means of a drive (10) acting on a gear (11) and is held in a bearing (9) and supported by a rotating shackle (12). The milling tool rests on a shaft (17); a mounting flange (19) makes it possible to use various types of tools, and in particular wheel-type tools. The shaft (17) is driven by a hydraulic motor (16). The working head (8) comprises a feed cylinder (13) wherein is located the hydraulic motor (16) just mentioned and the shaft (17) and which can be radially extended with regard to the pipeline (1). On the bearing (9) a holder (7) with a television camera is attached.

  • Patent number: 4782786
Abstract: The device consists of a mastic material-filled pipe (27) set in a cylinder (24) which is revolvable around its longitudinal axis and secured there against displacement by means of locks (30). Inside the pipe (27) is a piston (31) which is acted upon by a conduit (33) with compressed air. On the free end of the pipe (27) is a mastic spreading device (41) which is locked to the pipe. The piston (31) forces the material out of the pipe into the mastic spreading device which is revolvable together with the pipe around the longitudinal axis thereof. Once the mastic spreading device (41) has been fully emptied, it is removed from the pipe (27) and the latter is separated from the cylinder (24). The empty pipe is replaced by a full pipe and the mastic spreading device is again attached to the latter. In this way the device is again ready for use within a short time.
