Abstract: A gas burner includes a burner tube that has a gas supply tube extending into one end and an air intake orifice adjacent thereto. A perforated shield is clamped onto the tubes to enclose the air intake orifice.

Abstract: A barbeque kettle includes a bowl and a cover with the bowl having a food support grid adjacent an upper rim and a charcoal grid below the food grid along with a cover holder adjacent the rim of the bowl. The cover has a removable thermometer that can sense the initial temperature of the kettle and can also be used as a food thermometer. A pair of charcoal baskets are positionable on the charcoal grid for direct or indirect cooking.

Abstract: A sear bar for evaporating greases in an outdoor gas grill consists of an inverted V-shaped member having a pair of flat inclined walls defining an included angle of less than 90.degree. so that grease will evaporate while flowing across the heated inclined walls.

Abstract: A gas grill includes a cart and a cooking vessel supported on the cart with the cooking vessel having a lower gas burner assembly, an intermediate sear grid assembly and an upper cooking grid. The sear grid assembly includes inverted V-shaped sear bars that cause evaporation of greases from the food on the cooking grid. The cooking vessel has a lower removable grease pit for any unvaporized grease and a separate burner unit is supported on the cart. The cart also has a fuel indicator device for supporting a portable tank. The burner assembly is constructed to be assembled without the use of any tools.

The walls have vent openings formed by deforming tabs in the walls.

Abstract: A portable charcoal grill includes a bowl and a tripod leg arrangement with an ash catcher supported by the legs. The ash catcher includes a pan that is wedged into the leg structure and is held in the wedged position by spring clips carried by the legs and having arms engaging the bottom of the pan.

Abstract: A barbecue grill includes a bowl and a cover each having vents with the cover having a cover and the unit having the locking bar that locks with the gripping handle in a closed position. The locking bar has vent closures that close the vents in the bowl in a closed position. The bowl is supported by three U-shaped legs identical in construction that are secured to the bowl by fasteners and the fasteners provide support points for a fuel support grid within the bowl.

Abstract: An outdoor cooking kettle consisting of a generally hemispherical lower portion having a cooking surface therein and a generally hemispherical cover enclosing the cooking surface with the lower portion having diametrically-opposed handles extending outwardly from the surface thereof. The cooking kettle incorporates an arcuate member that is secured to the diametrically-opposed handles and defines a generally arcuate upwardly-opening slot receiving the cover and storing the cover in a generally upright position.

Abstract: A cooking apparatus includes a vessel or bowl that has a plurality of openings circumferentially-spaced around a central vertical axis with the support structure for the bowl including a plurality of identical legs and an ash catcher. The ash catcher is designed such that one end portion of each leg is received into a slot and the other end portion is received into the opening and receives wing nuts so that the unit can be assembled without the use of any tools.

Abstract: A cooking grill consisting of a bowl and a cover includes a support mechanism for supporting the cover on the bowl. The support mechanism includes diametrically-opposed T-shaped brackets that support the cover generally perpendicular to the rim in an open position and provide a partial shield for the cooking surface.

Abstract: A barbecue kettle has radially aligned slots in the hemispheroidal bottom thereof. A disc is mounted immediately above the center of the bottom for rotation about a vertical axis and has three arms secured thereto. A handle below the bottom is secured to the disc. The arms are generally triangular in cross-section and have distal edges fitting closely to the bottom. In one position, the arms cover the bowl openings, but may be rotated back and forth to push ash along the bottom of the bowl to the openings where it will fall out. The disc, arms and handle are designed to be assembled without using any tools.
