  • Publication number: 20040099076
Abstract: The present invention is a gear motor assembly for use in connection with electromechanical devices. The gear motor assembly provides high torque output, can be utilized in a small physical space and permits backdrive in the output shaft of the motor. The gear motor assembly includes a conventional DC motor having a first helical gear mounted to an output shaft of the DC motor. The first helical gear operably engages a second helical gear generally at a right angle. The second helical gear is linked by a transmission shaft to a third pinion. The third pinion operably engages a first cluster gear, which operably engages a second cluster gear. The second cluster gear then engages an output gear, which mounts a drive shaft. The first and second helical gears, the third pinion, the first and second cluster gear and the output gear form a gear train that wraps around the DC motor. The DC motor and the gear train are mounted within a housing or gearbox.

  • Patent number: 4463225
Abstract: The electric motor drives high and low speed drive pinions through reduction gearing. A low torque capacity clutch is located in the reduction gear train to the low speed pinion to permit the user to turn the manual shift to position the timer. The various program cams are driven by a drive member carried by an arbor on which the cams are mounted. The cams are independently spaced relative to the arbor and housing so any may be omitted as desired. The pulsing cam is mounted on the arbor and driven by the high speed pinion. The switch blades are essentially straight, the only forming being at the contact end where contact position or pressure will not be affected.

  • Patent number: 4192980
Abstract: If the pressure switch pre-loading cam has been set for a level above medium the pressure switch is returned to medium after completion of the wash cycle by momentary energization of the solenoid to unlatch the slider from the lobed cam. The slider carries the high and extra high settings and when it is disconnected from the cam the torsion spring on the cam shaft can drive the cam back to medium by pushing the slider out of the way. This arrangement prevents inadvertent repeated use of the higher water level settings, thus preventing inadvertent use of hot water.
