  • Publication number: 20220168735
Abstract: An analyzer system includes a cartridge configured to receive a sample. The cartridge has a plurality of chambers for isolating a target analyte of the sample and collecting a quantity of a first label that is proportional to a quantity of the target analyte in the sample. The system includes an analyzer with a first electromagnetic radiation source a first detector and a controller. The first electromagnetic radiation source is configured to provide electromagnetic radiation to form an interrogation space within a detection chamber of the cartridge. The first detector is configured to detect electromagnetic radiation emitted in the interrogation space by the first label if the first label is present in the interrogation space. The controller is configured to identify the presence of the target analyte in the sample based on electromagnetic radiation detected by the first detector.

  • Publication number: 20180353957
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a system including a microfluidic cartridge having a fluidic pathway and onboard reagents for processing a sample for analysis. The system includes an optics module including an electromagnetic radiation source, an objective, and a detector, and a translating that translates at least one of the cartridge or the optics module so as to scan a processing sample with focused electromagnetic radiation. Analysis methods using the system are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8420801
Abstract: The present invention is a method of separating nucleic acids using a solid phase capable of binding nucleic acids, such as magnetic glass particles, where binding of nucleic acids to the solid phase is enhanced by the presence of an ethylene-amine compound. The invention further includes a reaction mixture for isolating nucleic acids containing an ethylene-amine compound and kits for carrying out the method.

    Assignee: Roche Molecular Systems, Inc.
Inventors: Jenny A. Johnson, Erich Kyger
  • Patent number: 8026068
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for the isolation of a target nucleic acid using a material with an unmodified silica surface and subsequent amplification of the target nucleic acid in the presence of the material with an unmodified silica surface. The method is preferably carried out as an automated process preferably in a high throughput format. The method is preferably used in diagnostics.
