  • Patent number: 4834147
Abstract: A scissors mechanism for cutting the weft thread in a shuttleless loom performs an excess stroke to bring the scissors mechanism, which is combined with a clamping mechanism, as close to the weft thread insertion gripper as possible in order to reduce weft thread waste. For this purpose, the fixed scissors blade is tiltable between a working position and a rest position in a plane extending substantially perpendicularly to the weft thread insertion direction. The movable scissors blade cooperates with a clamping arm for clamping the weft thread just prior to its cutting. For this purpose the movable scissors blade carries a clamping jaw next to its cutting edge and the clamping jaw cooperates with a clamping plate attached to a clamping arm coaxially mounted with the movable scissors blade.

  • Patent number: 4787422
Abstract: A profiled weaving reed, especially for shuttleless looms with pneumatic weft thread insertion, has profiled reed teeth which are so deformed along the path of weft thread insertion that a first deformation forms an edge slanted in the direction of weft thread insertion while a further deformation on the opposite side of the respective reed tooth is slanted in the opposite direction. The first deformations may, for example, have a bent edge. The first and further deformations of all individual reed teeth form, over the width of the reed a type of groove or throat in which the weft thread is guided. The deformations prevent or greatly reduce an air loss through the reed and improve the air flow transporting the weft thread.

  • Patent number: 4293006
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in a pile warp thread-unwinding device for a terry cloth weaving machine with a drive for a pile warp beam controlled by an oscillatable reversing member for the pile warp threads, the improvement comprising two rotatable reversing means mounted in a stationary manner following the pile warp beam in the drawing-off direction of the threads, an oscillatable feeler means positioned therebetween whereby the warp threads are deflected from a straight path thereof, and means on said feeler means for influencing control switches for the pile warp beam drive.

  • Patent number: 4156441
Abstract: This invention relates to a yarn tensioner for weaving machines in which a filling is intermittently removed from a supply spool by means of a filling insertion mechanism, comprising annular brush means loosely surrounding a rotatable drum means with a smooth surface, means whereby said brush means is mounted on said drum means so as to be freely displaceable within an axially limited range, a first, fixed yarn guiding eyelet means mounted between the supply spool and the drum means, said first eyelet means being adapted to feed a yarn along an approximately axial direction to said drum means, and a second and also fixed yarn guiding eyelet means mounted at the other end of said drum means and adapted to forward said yarn in an approximately axial direction, said yarn when being between said two yarn guiding eyelet means passing on the surface of said drum means and underneath said brush means.

  • Patent number: 4143684
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in the process for beating up and cutting off fillings inserted into the shed in shuttless weaving equipment provided with weft mixers, in particular in weaving machinery with filling insertion by means of grippers advancing into and retracting from the shed, the inserted filling being cut off on the insertion side outside the selvage, the improvement comprising that simultaneously with or following the beating up of the last inserted filling: (a) cutting off the previously inserted filling and seizing the free end, connected to a supply spool, by a holding system, (b) guiding the last inserted filling over the back of a scissor blade facing the shed to a catching hook mounted outside the scissors, (c) simultaneously with the back-motion of the shed, displacing the scissors transversely to the direction of the filling in an orthogonal plane and reopening them, the last inserted filling passing from the back of the scissor blade in front of the other scissor blade into
