  • Patent number: 5101783
Abstract: An ignition system in an internal combustion engine having a cylinder housing with an air or water cooled region achieves multiple ignition. The ignition system includes at least a pair of spark plugs electrically connected in series and including a first spark plug mounted in the cylinder housing while being isolated electrically therefrom and a second spark plug directly screwed into a cylinder head of the cylinder housing. The first spark plug is mounted within the air or water cooled region of the cylinder housing, thereby maintaining such spark plug at a relatively constant temperature, and avoiding the problem of the two spark plugs being subjected to different thermal stresses.

  • Patent number: 4979472
Abstract: Disclosed is a radiator located above an engine forming a hermetically sealed heat exchanger tube system. The engine can quickly heat up. The coolant circulates by an evaporitive - condensing cycle.

  • Patent number: 4372127
Abstract: A heat transformation device which is compact and effective for recovering waste heat from one or more sources which sources may have different temperatures, comprises a closed cylinder containing a working piston made of heat conducting material and at least one impact piston which is constructed to act as a recuperator. Electromagnetic means are provided to suddenly move the impact piston when it absorbs heat from an end of the cylinder into contact with the working piston. The cylinder is filled with a low molecular weight, low density gas which has high specific heat and is preferably compressed.

  • Patent number: 4312476
Abstract: Bivalent heating system having a directly fired heat pump with an absorber and a burner-heated generator disposed in a refrigerant circulation loop, the refrigerant loop being coupled through heat exchanging means to a heating medium loop for space heating and including control means activatable when a predetermined ambient temperature is reached for increasing fuel supply to the burner of the heat pump and for switching circulation in the refrigerant loop from heat pump operation to pure heat exchanger operation.

  • Patent number: 4241781
Abstract: A regenerative heater includes a regenerator container having open opposite ends. The container contains therein a fill of heat retaining material which is permeable to the passage therethrough of gas, throughout the entire length thereof in opposite directions between the open opposite ends of the container. The fill of heat retaining material comprises solid fine granular particles having a low thermal conductivity. A heat source is positioned adjacent the first end of the fill of heat retaining material. At least one blower is provided for circulating gas in opposite directions through the entire length of the fill of heat retaining material and across substantially the entire cross-section thereof. A charging flow of gas is first circulated in a first direction through the fill of heat retaining material, such that the charging flow of gas is heated by the heat source and then passes through the heat retaining material while transferring heat to the heat retaining material.
