  • Patent number: 5295417
Abstract: A saw blade (10) is moved stepwise for complementary finishing operations through a first station (20) and a second station (40) and is stopped whenever a tooth (12) has reached a desired position at the first station (20). Finishing of a second tooth at the second station (40) simultaneously with the finishing of the tooth at the first station is prepared in that the position of the second tooth is determined, which position depends on tooth pitch errors, and a finishing device (60) is moved into a corresponding position for work.

  • Patent number: 4587867
Abstract: A machine for working on saws has a mounting (20) for a saw blade (10), an advance mechanism (30) for advancing the saw blade (10) stepwise through one or more tooth spacings, and a machining device (40) which, after each completed advance, carries out at least one working stroke on a tooth of the saw blade (10). A spacing gauge (58) on a disc (56) is connected with the saw blade (10) for common advance motion and acts together with a signaler (62) which transmits signals in response to the advance of the saw blade (10) to a control circuit (60). Said control circuit (60) permits a working stroke of the machining device (40) only when the intended advance of the saw blade (10) has taken place. Thus, the danger of the saw blade (10) being damaged as a result of an erroneous advance from the machining device (40), or of the machining device (40) itself being damaged, is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4577533
Abstract: A carriage (28) is supported parallel to the grinding wheel axis (12) on a carrier member (20) which is reciprocable stroke-wise transversely of the grinding wheel axis (12). The grinding wheel (10) is situated on a bearing member (30) which is guided on the carriage (28) parallel to the grinding wheel axis (12) and is adapted to be advanced by an advance gear (44). The adjustment of the carriage (28) relative to the carrier member (20) is limited by a front and a back end stop (56, 58) and is further limitable by two intermediate stops (78, 78') which may be caused to reciprocate selectively between a retracted position and an operating position by a control device (110) responsive to the movements of the carrier member (20).

  • Patent number: 4499794
Abstract: An apparatus for machining circular saw blades and more particularly to the transport means for conveying workpieces to the machining stations of the apparatus. In accordance with the invention, the storage capability of the apparatus is accomplished by subdividing the conveying means into a work path leading through the machining stations; a return path leading through a feeding and discharging station; two branch paths wherein an endless conveyor is arranged only along the work path and associated with the branch paths there are shifting means capable of shifting a work piece carriage from the branch path to the return path; and that on the return path, work piece carriages are maintained at smaller distances than those of the endless conveyor whereby the storage capacity of the apparatus is increased. The apparatus is also adjustable to feed a plurality of different saw diameters for machining.

  • Patent number: 4483217
Abstract: A saw blade (10) is supported on a saw blade carriage (14) adapted to be adjusted by an adjusting drive means (18) along a carriage guide means (16) and cooperating with a distance measuring means (26,28,30). A sensor means (34) is disposed in the path of movement of the saw blade (10) and emits signals in response to the position of a front edge portion of the saw blade (10) extending transversely of the carriage guide means (16). The adjusting drive means (18) is controlled by these signals and stopped at a predetermined nominal position of the front edge portion of the saw blade (10). In this manner the saw blade (10) positioning is effected automatically and the positioning accomplished permits a conclusion to be drawn with respect to the diameter of the saw blade (10) so that no separate measurement thereof is required.
