  • Patent number: 5343726
Abstract: A rolling train for rolling girder sections includes at least one two-high reversing roughing stand and a plurality of subsequent universal stands for work rolling and finish rolling. Two universal stands and an upsetting stand are combined to form a reversing tandem group. A universal sizing stand for passing rolling is arranged immediately subsequent to the tandem group. The universal stands of the tandem group have double-cone shaped vertical rolls and the universal sizing stand has cylindrical vertical rolls. The girder section is rolled in several successive passes with the flanges of the section being directed outwardly and the outwardly directed flanges are rolled so as to extend parallel in a last smoothing pass.

  • Patent number: 4555923
Abstract: The guiding facilities for rolled stock in a sizing mill are mounted on a pivotable carrier, which in turn is excentrically mounted on a shaft with excentric pivot. Rotation of the shaft adjusts the elevation. The shaft is mounted to a base in relation to which the roll stand is literally slideable.

  • Patent number: 4037452
Abstract: The invention covers a group gear for the rollers of individual stands, driven by a motor via one common main drive shaft, of a continuous rolling mill, particularly for a wire manufacturing block where the secondary drive speed is picked up by the main drive shaft via the respective bevel gear stage, and then transmitted to the rolling mill shafts.

  • Patent number: 4005594
Abstract: A roll changing mechanism for the rolls of a rolling mill which are mounted in a roll stand and which define therebetween a pass line extending in a given direction includes a roll stand changing cart movable in a direction parallel to the direction of the pass line, a horizontal turntable on the roll stand changing cart having guideways thereon for receiving the roll stand and a swiveling frame adapted to have the roll stand supported therein and mounted for rotation in a vertical plane to move the roll stand through an angle of 90.degree.. The mechanism further includes a first conveyor device extending on one side of the swiveling frame between the roll stand changing cart and the swiveling frame for engaging the roll stand and for moving the roll stand from the changing cart to the swivel frame.

  • Patent number: 3982439
Abstract: This invention provides apparatus for slowing down the forward speed of severed head pieces or sample pieces issuing from a rolling mill at rolling mill speed, so that the severed pieces may be removed from the main processing line. This is achieved by providing a separate channel or track which may be switched into and out of the main processing line to receive the severed pieces, with the switching channel being in the form of a loop. Because of this shape, the forward speed of the pieces is reduced rapidly in a switching channel requiring very little space, not only because of its shape, but also because the curved course of the channel increases frictional engagement with the severed pieces, as opposed to a straight switching channel.
