  • Patent number: 4118293
Abstract: An electrolytic method for making tin (II) sulfate wherein tin is anodically dissolved in a sulfuric acid solution and wherein the anode space is separated from the cathode space by a diaphragm, the diaphragm being composed of an inorganic, ceramic material which has been densified by sintering at above 1,000.degree. C.As a result of this process, tin (II) sulfate solutions can be obtained which have a very low content of tin (IV) compounds and from which a highly pure bivalent tin sulfate can be recovered.

  • Patent number: 4083860
Abstract: Compounds having the formula ##STR1## WHEREIN R.sup.1 is the R.sup.3 --[O--(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.z C.sub.2 H.sub.4 --].sub.p group of which R.sup.3 is an alkyl group with 8 to 18 carbon atoms or an alkylaryl group whose alkyl residue has at least 8 carbon atoms, or an acyl group with at least 8 carbon atoms, p has a value of 0 or 1 but must be equal to 1 when R.sup.3 is an acyl group, and z = 0 or a whole number,R.sup.2 is hydrogen or the ##STR2## group of which R.sup.4 is an alkyl residue with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Me is a metal or an organometallic group,x is a whole number which corresponds to the valence of the metal or the organometallic group andy is 0 or any whole number less than x.These compounds are useful as corrosion inhibitors, corrosion protecting films, thickeners, and fungicides or biocides. Methods for preparing the compounds are also disclosed.
