  • Patent number: 5339672
Abstract: A method for continuously monitoring gas dissolved in oil and includes placing a separator cell (1) in a conduit which extends from the upper part of an oil-cooled transformer and which is connected to the lower part of the transformer tank. The interior of the separator cell is divided by an inner glass filter (3) into two parts and the oil which flows through the separator and the glass filter is collected in the lower part of the separator. Through a pump (10) connected in the conduit from the separator to the lower part of the transformer tank, the oil level of the collected oil is maintained at a constant level. Between the glass filter and the collected oil, a gas compartment (5) is formed which contains gases extracted from the oil with a composition and concentrations uniquely determined by those gases dissolved within the oil. A gas sensor (6) is connected between the upper and lower parts of this compartment.

  • Patent number: 4552990
Abstract: A conductor, provided with insulation for forming windings for transformers and other inductive apparatus comprises two substantially rectangular uninsulated conductor strands, which are arranged with a flat side of one conductor strand facing a flat side of the other conductor strand and with an insulating layer arranged between the flat conductor sides, of a material which forms a glued joint between the conductor strands and which contains a spacer of insulating material to ensure that the conductor strands are held at a distance from each other. The glued joint may be provided either before or after the forming of the conductor into a winding. After the glued joint has been achieved, a winding manufactured from the conductor has a high breaking strength and low additional losses. The conductor is suitable for the manufacture of complicated windings as well, such as interleaved disc windings.

  • Patent number: 4127276
Abstract: A groove seal for effecting a seal between two bodies includes a sealing strip of elastomeric material disposed in a groove located in one of the bodies and being in contact with a side and a bottom wall of the groove. A pressure-compensating support strip and a plurality of permanent-elastic resilient elements are disposed in the groove, the elements serving to resiliently urge the sealing strip against the one side wall of the groove.

  • Patent number: 3978442
Abstract: For hydraulically clamping transformer windings, hydraulic pressure generating boxes are arranged between the bottom wall of the transformer tank and a plate which supports the transformer yoke. The transformer coils which surround the legs are supported from the plate by clamping boxes which are connected by conduits to the pressure generating boxes to transmit hydraulic pressure therebetween.

  • Patent number: 3936784
Abstract: In an oil-filled apparatus, such as a transformer, having parts between which pressure is to be applied, such pressure is produced by providing between the parts bodies of an elastomer which absorbs the oil and expands as a result of such absorption. Such bodies may be used between windings and cores or as a seal between a transformer lid and a flange.
