  • Patent number: 4029981
Abstract: Rotating rectifier assembly in a multiphase bridge circuit for electric machines has active components including cooling members, rectifier cells and safety fuses and also includes a carrier wheel having a radially inner hub and a radially outer annular flange, the active components being radially outwardly braced at the inner side of the annular flange, the annular flange being formed of two parts, one of the parts being a radially inner flange ring connected to the hub and formed with openings for receiving therein and for securing the active components to the annular flange, and the other of the parts being a radially outer cap ring formed of very rigid material and being in press-fitting engagement with the flange ring.

  • Patent number: 4016442
Abstract: Liquid-cooled rotor for electric machines including shaft means formed with axial bores for feeding and withdrawing cooling liquid, and radial bores connecting the axial bores to cooling-liquid collecting chambers surrounding the shaft means, thin-walled tubes of corrosion-resistant material forming a lining for the cooling-liquid bores, the tubes being in firm rolled-in engagement with the surfaces defining the bore, along the entire lengths thereof, and diverting members fitted, into the axial bores at locations whereat the radial bores divert from the axial bores, the diverting members connecting the axial bores, respectively, with the radial bores; and method of producing the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4013908
Abstract: Cooling system for a superconductive exciter winding in a turbogenerator rotor, the exciter winding having winding coils formed of a multiplicity of individual windings that are received in slots formed at the outer periphery of a solid support cylinder and retained therein by a bracing cylinder shrink-fitted on the support cylinder, includes coolant distribution channels disposed radially in teeth located between and defining the slot formed in the support cylinder and in filler members located between winding head coils, the coolant distribution channels surrounding the individual windings over the entire length thereof and being connected in peripheral direction on both sides thereof with coolant channels extending substantially parallel to one another in radial direction with the individual winding coils and surrounding the same at the bottom of the slots; and method of production.

  • Patent number: 4012049
Abstract: Floating ring seal means for cooling water pumps, especially for cooling water connectors of water-cooled rotors of turbogenerators. A stabilization of the floating ring is achieved through pistons which are pressurized by pump pressure. This results in a ring seal holding force which increases proportionally to an increasing number of revolutions.

  • Patent number: 3968388
Abstract: In liquid cooled rotors of turbogenerators with half-turn cooling and cooling water feed at the dynamo side as well as cooling water discharge through a collecting chamber on the turbine side, the cooling water collecting chamber is arranged within the generator housing, axially immediately adjacent to the receiving chamber, and is sealed against the rotor shaft by labyrinth rings through which is provided, as a barrier, a flow of the cooling gas for the generator housing.

  • Patent number: 3955111
Abstract: Device for cooling excitation-current supply lines in a shaft connected at one end thereof to a liquid-cooled turbogeneration rotor having coil windings mounted thereon, the excitation-current supply lines being disposed in bifilar fashion within a bore formed along the axis of the shaft, includes coolant supply and discharge channels for the coil windings extending in the shaft coaxially to the excitation supply lines, the coolant supply and discharge channels being subdivided into a multiplicity of individual sub-channels extending in the shaft at minimal spacing from the axial bore for the excitation-current supply lines, and a coolant collecting chamber surrounding the rotor shaft, the sub-channels terminating through radial bores with the coolant collecting chamber at the rotor end of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 3942053
Abstract: Device for securing a superconductive exciter winding in a thermally insulating, thermally elastic and short-circuit proof manner within the rotor of a turbogenerator wherein the rotor has a body part thereof formed as a hollow cylinder, including a plurality of telescoping intermediate cylinders disposable within the hollow cylinder spaced from and coaxial to one another and to the hollow cylinder, the intermediate cylinders forming cold shields and damping means, the hollow cylinder being closed at both ends thereof, a support cylinder located within and spaced from the innermost of the telescoping intermediate cylinders and adapted to support a superconductive exciter winding on the inner side thereof, means for connecting the cylindrical rotor body part through the intermediate cylinders to the support cylinder force-lockingly yet resiliently in radial direction and free to expand in axial direction, the spaces between the cylinders being evacuated so as to insulate the cylinders thermally one from the ot
