  • Patent number: 5014884
Abstract: A spray container or can which possesses a spray mechanism for finely atomizing fluids through the intermediary of a hydraulically-operating pump. Containers such as spray cans and spary bottles or flasks of the above-mentioned type generally known in commerce. Through the intermediary of mechanically actuatable pumps, in this instance there is sprayed a finely atomized fluid from a nozzle which is arranged on a housing of the container. The spary mechanism is inserted into a housing which is connectable with the supply container for the spray fluid or liquid through a close-fitted or frictional locking connection, and in which the spray mechanism incorporates an electromotively driven gear pump, and in which the suction line of the pump is conducted through an opening in the bottom of the housing into the supply container, the latter of which is equipped with a venting line, whereby the gear pump includes a delivery or pressure tube at its output end which is connected with a discharge nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4677060
Abstract: A process for determining the pH value in the interior of a cell is descrd. This is accomplished by measurement of the emission of a fluorescent substance which is absorbed by the cell through incubation in a solution. The solution contains a compound of the said fluorescent substance; the fluorescent substance is separated from this compound in the cell by an enzyme present in the cell. The fluorescent substance selected is one such that the frequency of the emission maximum is dependent on the pH value. The compound of this fluorescent substance which is selected is one which is membrane penetrating. Measurement of the fluorescence is based on the principle of measurement of the frequency at which the emission maximum occurs. A fluorescent substance suitable for this purpose is 2,3-dicyano-1,4-hydroquinone. A suitable membrane penetrating compound is 1,4-diacetoxy-2,3-dicyanobenzene or 1,4-dibutyryloxy-2,3-dicyanobenzene or 1,4-di(-tert-butyloxycarbonyl-1-alanyloxy)-2,3-dicyanobenzene.

  • Patent number: 4264142
Abstract: A setting or adjusting device for rearview mirrors with a mirror plate secured to an arm which is pivotal both about a substantially vertical axis and about a substantially horizontal axis, yet is mounted non-rotatably in an axis perpendicular to the two axes, on a mirror holder. An adjusting unit engages the arm acting against a return spring, and comprises two tongs-like members rotatably mounted on the mirror holder about a common axis. The tongs-like members have first legs which accommodate the arm between them, and second legs which cooperate respectively with a controllable adjusting drive such a manner that a pivotal movement of the first legs respectively takes place about the common axis so that a displacement of the arm which is guided between the two first legs occurs which is transmitted in the form of a tilting movement about the horizontal and vertical axes respectively to the mirror plate.

  • Patent number: 4247172
Abstract: A setting and adjusting device for rearview mirrors mounted on a vehicle body comprising a mirror housing adapted to be mounted on the vehicle body and a mirror plate having a rear surface and a front reflecting surface. The mirror plate is adjustably mounted in the housing for pivoting and tilting of the mirror plate about a substantially vertical axis and a substantially horizontal axis, respectively. End stops limit the pivoting and tilting of the mirror plate. Controllable adjusting devices upon actuation and release thereof, respectively, pivot and tilt the mirror plate about the horizontal and vertical axes into predetermined lateral and vertical positions, respectively, and against the stops, respectively. A pivot lever and a bearing head, respectively, are operatively mounted to the mirror plate so as to positively engage the mirror plate in a pivot and tilt direction, respectively, and so as to be freely moveable relative to the mirror plate in a non-pivoting and non-tilting direction, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4167508
Abstract: A radioiodinated phloretyl-.beta.-alanyl-secretin, its salts and its protected derivatives. A process for the manufacture of a radioiodinated phloretyl-.beta.-alanyl-secretin and/or a salt thereof which process involves reacting phloretyl-.beta.-alanyl-secretin and/or a salt thereof with radioactive iodine. Phloretyl-.alpha.-alanyl-secretin, its salts and its protected derivatives. A method for the determination of secretin in a sample, which involves; mixing the sample with a known amount of a radioiodinated phloretyl-.beta.-alanyl-secretin and an antibody specific for secretin; measuring the degree of binding of the labelled radioiodinated phloretyl-.beta.-alanyl-secretin; and determining the amount of secretin present in the sample by comparing the degree of binding with a standard curve which has been obtained by adding known amounts of secretin to a defined mixture of the radioiodinated phloretyl-.beta.

  • Patent number: 3978035
Abstract: The specification describes the total synthesis of L-norleucine-13-motilin ased on the replacement of the L-methionine radical located in the 13-position by an L-norleucine radical. In accordance with the present day development of peptide synthesis the central arginyl-methionyl-bond (amino acids 12 and 13 of motilin) can in practice hardly be synthesised, while on the other hand the norleucine-13-docosapeptide corresponding to motilin can be more readily produced synthetically, and this provides for a comparatively rapid determination of structure and can give important information as regards the biological effect specificity of methionine.
