  • Patent number: 7850521
Abstract: A gaming device including a plurality of reels having several symbols with at least one wild symbol. In one embodiment, the gaming device spins the reels for at one spin. If a wild symbol is indicated on a payline associated with the reels and no winning symbol combinations are indicated on the payline, the gaming device holds the reel including the wild symbol, stationary. The gaming device then re-spins the other reels for a designated number of spins, not including the reel having the wild symbol, in the game. The gaming device provides an award associated with any winning symbol combinations on the payline. In another embodiment, the gaming device holds one of the reels stationary when a wild symbol is indicated on a payline associated with the reels the award amounts associated with any indicated winning symbol combinations on the payline are less than a designated award value.

  • Publication number: 20100291991
Abstract: A gaming system including a central server linked to a plurality of gaming machines and a plurality of bonus awards. The central server monitors wagers on the gaming machines. Based at least in part on the wagers the central server determines when bonus events will occur and which gaming machine(s) will provide the bonus awards. In one embodiment, the central server determines which gaming machine will provide a primary bonus award and any secondary bonus awards. In one embodiment, the number of secondary bonus awards is determined based on the number of active gaming machines. The selected gaming machine then determines a component of or the amount of the bonus award to be provided to the gaming machine selected by the central server.

  • Patent number: 7775874
Abstract: A gaming device including a award mode in a primary game that increases the probability of obtaining an award in the primary game. The gaming device includes a plurality of reels having several symbols where the symbols include award symbols, at least one trigger symbol and at least one wild symbol. The gaming device activates the reels and initiates the award mode when the trigger symbol is indicated on one of the paylines associated with the reels. In the award mode, the gaming device re-activates all of the reels except the reel including the trigger symbol until those reels indicate a wild symbol on the payline. The gaming device then re-activates the reel including the trigger symbol until an award symbol is indicated on that reel. The gaming device provides the award associated with the indicated award symbol on the payline on that reel to the player.

  • Patent number: 7690981
Abstract: A gaming device that includes a plurality of elements or symbols which are each in one or more of a plurality of element groups or sets. The gaming device also includes a plurality of player selectable selections. Each player selectable selection is associated with one of the plurality of element groups or sets. In one embodiment, the player is enabled to pick one of the selections and each element in the element group or set associated with the picked selection is flagged or marked. If a designated element or combination of elements are not flagged, the player is enabled to pick at another one of the selections, one at a time, until a designated element or combination of elements are flagged or marked. Once a designated element or combination of elements are flagged or marked, the player is provided an award based, at least in part, on the specific element or combination of elements which are flagged or marked.

  • Patent number: 7682246
Abstract: A gaming device including a free activation mode having a predetermined number of free activations wherein the probability of extending the free activation mode is increased by a triggering event which triggers an unlimited number of free activations. A termination event terminates the unlimited fee activations. A freezing event freezes the number of remaining free activations. A resetting event resets the number of remaining free activations. A locking event causes at least one symbol or at least one card to remain unchanged or lock during the unlimited free activations. The gaming device generates a plurality of symbols while not changing the locked symbol or re-deals the remaining cards an unlimited number of times until a termination event occurs.

  • Publication number: 20100004049
Abstract: A gaming device displays a symbol matrix including a plurality of symbol positions and at least two symbol staging areas, each symbol staging area including at least one supplemental symbol potentially shiftable into the symbol matrix. The gaming device displays a symbol staging area indicator. For a play of a game, the gaming device generates a symbol in each symbol position of the symbol matrix. Upon an occurrence of a triggering condition, the gaming device indicates one of the symbol staging areas using the symbol staging area indicator and removes at least one symbol from at least one symbol position of the symbol matrix. The gaming device re-populates the empty symbol positions by shifting any appropriate symbols of the symbol matrix any appropriate empty symbol positions, and thereafter shifting at least one supplemental symbol from the indicated symbol staging area into at least one remaining empty symbol position.

  • Patent number: 7591723
Abstract: A gaming device includes a symbol generator having a plurality of adjacently arranged sections. A plurality of the sections are each associated with or display one or a plurality of characteristics. The sections associated with the characteristics are each associated with or display a symbol or an award. At least one of the sections is a designated section and is not initially associated with a characteristic. The designated section is operable to sequentially display one, more or each of the characteristics associated with the other non-designated sections. When the symbol generator indicates one of the sections that displays an award and is associated with a characteristic, the gaming device provides the player with the award associated with the section. When the symbol generator indicates the designated section, the gaming device sequentially associates or displays a plurality of the characteristics associated with the other sections with the designated section.

  • Publication number: 20090124325
Abstract: The gaming device disclosed herein includes a plurality of matrices of symbol positions. At least a first reel in a first reel set or matrix is associated with or linked to at least a first reel in a second reel set or matrix and at least a second reel in the first reel set not associated with or linked to any reel in any second reel set. In a play of the game, symbols are independently generated for each reel set and the symbols displayed for each reel set are independently evaluated to provide any awards for any winning symbol combinations. After the evaluation, the gaming device removes zero, one, or more symbols from reels in the reel sets. If any empty symbol positions are formed on the first reel in the second reel set, the gaming device shifts or transfers one or more symbols from the first reel of the first reel set to the linked first reel of the second reel set to occupy the one or more empty symbol positions.
