The automated UV sterilization system is configured to: determine dimensions of a target area surrounding UV sterilization units, determine the UV exposure to be provided based on the determined dimensions, activate the UV exposure to be provided by UV sterilization units, determine a current UV exposure within the target area, and determine whether the current UV exposure meets a target criteria to complete sterilization for the target area surrounding UV sterilization units.

    Abstract: A UV sterilization system is provided. In some embodiments, the UV sterilization system includes a first UV LED device having a LED circuit and LED emitters. The UV sterilization system can include a sensor electrically coupled to the first UV LED device, the sensor configured to interrupt the operation of the first UV LED device upon detecting movement within an air conditioning system. The UV sterilization system can include a power module electrically coupled to the sensor, where the power module is electrically coupled to a power supply of the air conditioning system. In some embodiments, the air conditioning system can include a packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC) unit or a split-air air-conditioner system, and the UV sterilization system can be a part of the PTAC unit or split-air air-conditioning system. In some embodiments, the sensor includes a motion sensor and/or an occupancy sensor.

In one implementation, the air purification system can include a removable air filter disposed over the PCO filter and located within the air filter receiving region, where the removable air filter can include a switch trigger. In some instances, the air filter receiving region can include a switch configured to receive the switch trigger, where the switch and switch trigger together are configured to disable operation of the air purification system when the removable air filter is removed from the air filter receiving region.
