Publication number: 20120330272Abstract: A self-contained portable apparatus for administration of a drug solution includes a housing having an enclosure for receiving a flexible pouch containing a drug solution, the output of which is connectable to a conduit for delivering the drug solution to a recipient. A pressurization system is arranged for providing a constant and controllable gas pressure to the housing in order to obtain a controllable delivery of the drug solution. The pressurization system includes a pressure source for delivering positive pressure gas; a pressure accumulation tank connected to the source and the second chamber; a one-way valve arranged between the pressure source and the pressure accumulation tank; and a mechanical pressure regulator arranged between the pressure accumulation tank and the housing. Hereby, an extremely stable and well controllable output pressure and output flow is obtainable.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2012Publication date: December 27, 2012Inventors: Martin NILSSON, Erik Andreen

Patent number: 7722627Abstract: A surgical instrument for ligating internal tissue of a cavity in the human body by means of an elastic cord is disclosed. The instrument comprises an inner tube, having a distal and a proximal part, with the distal part having a distal end adapted to carry an elastic cord strained around it and with the proximal part arranged to be connected to a vacuum source, wherein at least one tube bend is formed between the distal and proximal part. Further, an outer discharge member is provided to push said elastic cord beyond the distal end of said tube to close around the stem of a tissue when inserted in the tube, the discharge member comprising an outer discharge part displaceably arranged around the distal part, an actuating part displaceably arranged around the proximal part, and a flexible connection part following said tube bend and arranged to transfer a movement of the actuating part to the discharge part.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2004Date of Patent: May 25, 2010Assignee: Astra Tech ABInventor: Erik Andreen

Publication number: 20090099545Abstract: A self-contained portable apparatus for administration of a drug solution is disclosed, comprising: a housing having an enclosure for receiving a flexible pouch containing a drug solution, the output of which is connectable to a conduit for delivering said drug solution to a recipient. A pressurization system is arranged for providing a constant and controllable gas pressure to the housing, wherein a controllable pressure is obtained for a controllable delivery of the drug solution. The pressurization system comprises: a pressure source for delivering positive pressure gas; a pressure accumulation tank connected to said source and to said second chamber, arranged to provide a positive pressure reservoir; a one-way valve arranged between said pressure source and said pressure accumulation tank, enabling gas to flow solely in the direction from the pressure source to the pressure accumulation tank; and a mechanical pressure regulator arranged between said pressure accumulation tank and said housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2008Publication date: April 16, 2009Applicant: Astra Tech ABInventors: Martin Nilsson, Erik Andreen

Publication number: 20080015485Abstract: An apparatus for collecting and salvaging blood is disclosed, comprising: a first chamber for collecting blood through an inlet port; a second chamber for receiving blood from the first chamber through a connection channel and a channel valve manually controllable to close the connection channel. Further, the apparatus comprises a control means for simultaneously controlling the channel valve and the internal pressure of the second chamber. Still further, a lipid separator is arranged in the second chamber for separating the blood from lipids before the release through the release port. By the arrangement of the lipid separator in the second chamber, it is possible to provide a very efficient separation and cleaning of the blood, and to allow release of the separated lipids and other buoyant substances from the chamber when the concentration is too high. Consequently, the apparatus could be used during an extended period of time, and could also be used for repeated re-use.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2005Publication date: January 17, 2008Applicant: Astra Tech ABInventors: Johan Sjögren, Erik Andreen, Sanna Grange-Jansson, Martin Nilsson
