Patent number: 11430234Abstract: A method of authentication using surface paper texture includes steps of capturing a topographic pattern image of a surface of a region of interest of the paper artifact and extracting a plurality of specific features from the captured topographic pattern image. The method further identifies the location of the specific features of the paper artifact from the captured topographic pattern image. A bit map of the identified location of the specific features is generated. Then, a reference image of a reference bit map printed on the region of interest of the paper artifact is captured. Finally, the method compares the generated bit map with the captured reference bit map to generate a score. The score of the comparison determines the level of authentication. The method provides an offline method of authentication.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2020Date of Patent: August 30, 2022Assignee: COLOP Digital GmbHInventors: Johan Bergqvist, Erik Bohlin, Nikolaus Frank

Publication number: 20170307365Abstract: A device for authentication, which is capable of producing a topographic pattern image based on a microstructure of a paper-based artifact. The topographic pattern image of the microstructure of the paper-based artifacts is used for authentication of the paper-based artifacts. The device includes an illumination channel comprising a light source and a light director configured to bend the light beam produced by the light source. The device also includes an imaging channel comprising at least one lens configured to magnify the topographic pattern created by the light beam and an image capturing mechanism to capture the topographic pattern.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2015Publication date: October 26, 2017Applicant: Paper DNA AGInventors: Johan Bergqvist, Erik Bohlin, Frank Nikolaus

Patent number: 6007687Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for sealing a cover plate for an electrolytic cell. Prior-art cell constructions suffer from the problems of, inter alia, a short service life of certain materials and cracking in the materials which results in leakage, which makes it necessary to put the cell out of operation. The problem is solved by the present method of sealing a cover plate for an electrolytic cell, the cell having a base (2), in which risers (1) for the anodes of the cell are attached, the base consisting of at least one basic material with high thermal conductivity, preferably copper, and at least one cover plate (8) which is arranged on the basic material towards the inside of the cell, the riser having a sealing flange (6), to which the cover plate is connected, an additional plate being attached between riser and cover plate to act as a bellows (9; 20), said bellows being attached by welding (10; 11) to the sealing flange (6) of the riser and the cover plate (8), respectively.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1998Date of Patent: December 28, 1999Assignee: Akzo Nobel N.V.Inventors: Anders Ullman, Martin Kroon, Sven-Erik Bohlin

Patent number: 5225269Abstract: A needled press felt for dewatering of cellulose pulp in a paper making machine consists of a multi layer base fabric having longitudinal and transversal threads. In order to improve the dewatering capability of the press felt and making it easy to assemble, the dewatering side of the press felt consists of layer of coarse yarn (3), which has a weight per unit of length, which is at least twice as great as the one of the remaining parallel yarns (1, 2) of the base fabric. Further a seam which can be opened is arranged transversally to the running direction of the felt in the paper making machine.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1992Date of Patent: July 6, 1993Assignee: Scandiafelt ABInventor: Karl-Erik Bohlin

Patent number: 5120904Abstract: Electrode used for one pole in underwater transmission of high-voltage direct current, an insulated cable being used for the other pole, such electrodes being adapted to be stationary on the bottom of the sea to serve as the anode and the cathode, respectively, while the sea-water constitutes the electric conductor therebetween. What characterises the invention is that the electrode comprises at least one layer (1) of a flexible, electrically conductive material which preferably is resistant to chlorine-alkali, said layer (1) being enclosed between protective structures (2,3) of a flexible, mechanically resistant material which preferably is resistant to chlorine-alkali, at least one protective structure (2) having openings (4) which are positioned across the surface thereof and through which the sea-water comes into contact with the layer (1).Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1990Date of Patent: June 9, 1992Assignee: Permascand ABInventors: Anders Ullman, Lars-Erik Bergman, Sven-Erik Bohlin, Pekka Heiskanen
