  • Patent number: 11628806
Abstract: A method of calibrating a windshield wiper system that includes moving a wiper arm, of the windshield wiper system, within at least a portion of a full range of motion defined by at least one physical boundary, determining a position of the wiper arm when it contacts the at least one physical boundary, defining, based on the determined position of the wiper arm, an operating range of motion for the wiper arm that is shorter than the full range of motion, and setting the wiper arm to operate within the defined operating range of motion.

Date of Patent: April 18, 2023
    Assignee: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.
Inventors: Thomas G. Kracker, Joshua Thomas Glazier, Erik F. De Almeida
  • Patent number: 11312336
Abstract: A method of operating a rear wiper system of a vehicle that includes monitoring an operational status of a full display mirror system of the vehicle, and automatically activating the rear wiper system when the full display mirror system is switched from an active mode to an inactive mode.

  • Publication number: 20190337452
Abstract: A system for controlling vehicle components including a rear wiper system and a full display mirror (FDM) system is described herein. The system includes a rear wiper system switch including an OFF position and at least one activated position. The system also includes an FDM control switch including an OFF position and an ON position. The system also includes a control unit communicatively coupled to the rear wiper system switch and the FDM switch and configured to activate a rear wiper activation indicator when the rear wiper system switch is in the at least one activated position and the FDM switch is in the ON position.

  • Patent number: 10358117
Abstract: A control system can include an actuator actuable into an on state to instruct a wiper motor to move a wiper over a vehicle exterior surface, and a source of vehicle movement data that indicates whether the vehicle is moving. A processor based controller can instruct the wiper motor to move the wiper to either a Park 1 position that provides enhanced aerodynamic effects or a different Park 2 position that provides enhanced accessibility to the wiper if the actuator is not actuated into the on state. The controller being specifically configured to instruct the wiper motor to move the wiper to the Park 1 position if the source of vehicle information indicates that the vehicle is moving, and to instruct the wiper motor to move the wiper to the Park 2 position if the source of vehicle information does not indicate that the vehicle is moving.

  • Publication number: 20180170261
Abstract: A rear view display system and method for a motor vehicle is having a rearview mirror providing an exterior rear view of the motor vehicle is disclosed. The system includes a camera located at a rear of the motor vehicle, a display within an interior of the motor vehicle, a sensor for detecting an obstruction obstructing the exterior rear view of the motor vehicle, and a control circuit adapted to send a video feed from the camera to the display when the obstruction is detected. The method includes the steps of detecting an obstruction obstructing the exterior rear view of the motor vehicle, and sending a video feed from the camera to the display when the obstruction is detected.
