  • Patent number: 9616443
Abstract: A coating unit is located after a sheet-fed digital printer on a manufacturing line. As a response to a workpiece entering the coating unit from the printer, coating substance is dosed onto a plate cylinder, and said plate cylinder is rotated to transfer said coating substance onto the workpiece, which is then transferred further on the manufacturing line. As a response to a first time limit expiring after transferring the workpiece further without a subsequent workpiece entering the coating unit, the rotation of the plate cylinder is stopped.

  • Publication number: 20110056395
Abstract: A packing (4) for sealing a doctor blade chamber (3), where the packing (4) includes a sharp rail (7) for sealing abutment against a screen roller. The rail (7) is embedded in a resilient member (20) having a sealing surface (12) for bearing against the bottom (3A) of the doctor blade chamber at the side of the member opposite the sharp rail (7), and where a wall (11) extends from the sharp rail (7) and to the sealing surface (12). The wall (11) extends curving from the rail (7) to the sealing surface (12). By such a design of a gradual transition is achieved that corners in which ink may accumulate and where partial solidification may occur are avoided. The sealing surface (12) is convexly curving for continuous contact with the bottom (3A) of the doctor blade chamber, even by deformation of the sealing surface (12) under pressing action (9).

  • Publication number: 20100266844
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a product having a sub-micron primary particle such as metal oxide, metal oxidhydroxide or metal hydroxide product, said method comprising the steps of: introducing a solid reactor filling material in a reactor, introducing a metal-containing precursor in said reactor, introducing a co-solvent into the said reactor, introducing a supercritical solvent in the said reactor. By these steps a contact between the metal-containing precursor and the co-solvent is established, thus resulting in the formation of said product in the proximity of the said solid reactor filling material. The present invention offers the astonishing possibility of producing anatase phase of TiO2 at temperatures as low as between 50° C. and 100° C. and at concurrent pressures of 100-200 bar. The invention also relates to a product such as anatase TiO2 produced by the method and also relates to an apparatus utilising the method.

  • Patent number: 7641448
Abstract: There is described a method and a system for cleaning an ink chamber (1) of a printing unit. The system includes a storage tank (10) which via a high-pressure pump (9) is connected with a hydrophore (2). In the hydrophore a high pressure is built up, and the hydrophore is connected with cleaning nozzles (40) via a valve (5). Thus it becomes possible to inject a shot of cleaning liquid into the chamber by switching the valves (5). The cleaning nozzles are preferably designed as a mushroom-shaped plug (40) with a stem (41) which is mounted in the chamber wall and which has a circular domed top (43) of elastic, resilient material. When injecting cleaning liquid, the elastic plug will spray cleaning liquid out into the chamber, and after shutting off the pressure, there will be a self-closing effect.

  • Patent number: 7497161
Abstract: There is described a printing unit and a method for printing with flexographic inks. The printing unit includes a screen roller engaging a doctor blade system (3), and which is in continuous operation, either by engaging a motor (10) or by operation by the transmission (2) of the printing machine. The screen roller (1) of the printing unit interacts with a rubber sheet (16) which is disposed on a rubber sheet cylinder (4) at a position between a printing plate cylinder (5) and a back-pressure cylinder (6). A slot (7) is provided in the rubber sheet, used when the screen roller (1) is to be engaged with the rubber sheet (17).

  • Publication number: 20070062397
Abstract: The invention describes a sheet offset machine in which may be applied an air-drying ink/varnish. The invention furthermore concerns a drying unit that may be used for drying air-drying ink/varnish. The drying unit is disposed in connection with a cylinder surface and includes an integrated ventilator with suction and exhaust duct. These are used for sucking in fresh air and for exhausting used air having swept a wet print on the print carrier. The ventilator is connected to nozzles having an elongated nozzle orifice oriented in parallel with the center axis of the cylinder surface. The nozzle orifice is provided immediately opposite the cylinder surface for blowing an air stream towards counter pressure on the print carrier while it is disposed on the cylinder surface. By using such a system is achieved an efficient and energy economical drying of the applied inks/varnishes.

  • Patent number: 6637330
Abstract: A doctor blade system with clamping device is provided for clamping a doctor blade, for example, in a doctor blade chamber without using screws and without having to use tools. A clamping mechanism, preferably pneumatic, counteracts the clamping by actuation. By disposing a sectional rail between the clamping rail and the doctor beam, the sectional rail drawing the clamping rail and the beam together with a spring mechanism, the doctor blade is clamped between the clamping rail and the beam. In another embodiment, the clamping rail is designed as an angular section tipping about an edge.
