    Abstract: An improved process for applying a multi-component composite coating composition to a substrate is provided. The process includes the steps of roll applying to the substrate a colored film-forming composition to form a base coat and applying to said base coat at least one clear film-forming composition to form at least one transparent top coat over the base coat. At least one of the clear film-forming compositions contains an effect pigment.
