Patent number: 11071482Abstract: A lancet device includes a housing, a removable front cap mounted to the housing, a lancet holding member, a trigger and an arming system comprising a grippable cocking member structured and arranged to place the lancet device in a trigger-set or armed position. A depth adjustment system includes a member that is at least slidable and partially rotatably mounted and that has an axis of rotation arranged substantially parallel to a center axis of the lancet holding member. An ejection system includes an ejector having a portion extending outside a sidewall opening of the housing and being located closer to a front end of the housing than to a rear end of the housing. The sidewall opening of the housing is arranged on an area of the housing located between the trigger and a wall of the housing located opposite the trigger. The ejection system is structured and arranged to at least one of prevent axial movement of the lancet holding member or remove or eject a lancet from the lancet holding member.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2018Date of Patent: July 27, 2021Assignee: STAT MEDICAL DEVICES, INC.Inventors: Brian Schwartz, Erik J. Patent number: 9370594Abstract: A method of retaining only compatible refills by a volatile material dispenser includes the step of providing a dispenser having a housing and at least one movable latch disposed within the housing. The method further includes the steps of providing a compatible refill that includes a container for holding a volatile material and a wick extending from the container and inserting the refill into the housing so that the refill actuates the movable latch into engagement with a structure disposed on a neck of the refill to retain the refill within the housing. The incompatible refills are incapable of actuating the movable latch, and thus, the movable latch does not retain the incompatible refills within the housing.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2010Date of Patent: June 21, 2016Assignee: S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc.Inventors: Thomas P. Gasper, Chris A. Kubicek, Andrew N. Niemiec, Robert C. Coon, Bjorn Gunderson, Erik J. Moses, Mike O'Connor

Patent number: 7168178Abstract: A measuring device having a longitudinally extending polymer portion and a longitudinally extending metal portion secured to the polymer portion. The polymer portion may be molded over one longitudinal edge of the metal portion to thereby permanently secure the portions together. The measuring device may have a longitudinal balance axis disposed between a free edge of the metal portion and a free edge of the polymer portion. The balance axis can be disposed so that when the measuring device is placed on a page the metal portion free edge will contact the page and the polymer portion free edge will be raised. Alternatively, the balance axis can be disposed so that when the measuring device is placed on a page the metal portion free edge and the polymer portion free edge are raised above the page. Pressure on the metal portion will cause the metal portion free edge to contact the page while pressure on the polymer portion free edge will raise the metal portion free edge further off the page.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2005Date of Patent: January 30, 2007Inventors: Javier Verdura, Erik J. Moses, Daniel P. Sterling, Jonathan A. Lee, Stuart D. Farnworth
